Since Clark Co. has town/city named Kaufman, I am seeking information on a Walter & Ray/or Roy? WILSON, two children who were about 2 to 8 yrs old between 1890 and 1910. Their names are given on back of a photo addressed to my grandparents, Robert "S" ARMOUR and Susie Cora (WYATT)ARMOUR, who lived in Sedgwick Co., KS ca 1890 until 1903. At the bottom of photo is printed, "Cummings[or Pummings?] Studio" at "Kaufman." Inscription is "for cousins, Rob & Susie". Through which surname are they related? Other surnames: STEWART, WEIR, WOODRUFF, FRENCH.

Hole In The Rock Stage Stop

I have a transcript of a letter written in February 1872 from Hole in the Rock, Idaho. It came from Augustus Wildey, a man who had spent 20 years bouncing around the west in mining camps, and was to a sister of my great-grandmother. The couple married later that year in Iowa and I have been researching their family history.

From the stories of the Nez Perce flight through Idaho and Montana, it appears that Hole in the Wall was a stage stop on the road from Utah to Montana and was a few miles north of the present site of Dubois. Is there any written history of the stage stop or any evidence of the site today? I would assume the name came from a natural feature in the area, but can find no evidence of that in an Internet search.

This is a shot in the dark. I am looking for my birth father.
My mothers name was Mildred Wick. It would have been in 1959-1960 in Caldwell.
The first name is Rick... Unfortunately I don't know the last name. Mildred had three other children; David, Barbara, and Carol. My Grandmothers name was Elsie Henderson.
Rick had Bipolar disorder, and possibly some other mental health issues. He was a married man with six children. My mother was unaware of it until she became pregnant with me.
Rick does not know I exist. He is probably in his 70's if he is still alive.
I have no desire to contact him and mess up his life. This is purely for health reasons. I need some family background.
If any of this sounds familiar to you, please contact me at:
joyrchrds@yahoo.com
I am trying to learn more about a soldier whose grave sits alone high up on the continental divide near Humphrey, Idaho. A sign along side the road reads "Soldiers Grave". The soldier's name is Samuel A. Glass. An official military tombstone marks the grave and says that he was a soldier in company L of the second cavalry and died Aug. 24 1877. My research has determined that he was wounded on 20 aug 1877 during the nearby battle of Camas Meadow, and that he died at pleasant valley while being evacuated to Virginia City, Montana. His grave site overlooks the Pleasant Valley area alongside Interstate 15 about 10 miles south of the Idaho border. The gravesite seems to be taken care of, thus there should be someone with knowledge or information about both the gravesite and Mr. Glass. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My great, great grandfather, Alpheus Amuleck Harmon was a teamster and miner. He spent much of his life moving from place to place. I accidentally found him in Kilgore, now Clark County, in the 1900 federal census (ED 52, sheet 4, dwelling #64). He was listed with the John B. Crapo family, relationship, uncle.

Questions: How long did he stay in Kilgore? What work was he doing then? (No occupation was listed in the census.) How, exactly, was he related to the Crapo family?
