CLOVER MAE ORMOND POWELL 1917-2009 Clover POWELL, 91, of Meridian, our beloved wife, loving mother, and special grandmother, was called home on Thursday, June 25, 2009. She died at home after giving her all against Alzheimer's while in the company of her loving family. Clover Mae ORMOND was born in Bancroft, Idaho on August 29, 1917, the third child of Francis Comish and Delia Catherin Curtis ORMOND. Clover married her high school sweetheart, Hyrum Shields POWELL, on May 22, 1935 in Pocatello. They later went to the Salt Lake City Temple in Utah on January 9, 1936 to be married for time and all eternity. Hyrum and Clover had four children, Julia Colleen, John Hyrum, Kay Frances, and Scott Wade. They bought a 40 acre farm in 1949 and moved their family to Meridian, Idaho. They called their farm the "Lazy P Ranch". Clover was a homemaker who milked cows and worked on the Lazy P Ranch as chief cook and bottle washer. She was famous for her parker house rolls, raisin filled cookies, her "last supper", and selling the cows while Hyrum was hunting. Clover was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in the Relief Society, Primary, and served on the Stake Relief Society Board. She worked in the Boise Temple for several years and worked in the extraction mission in Nampa for six years. In 1979, Hyrum and Clover served an 18-month mission in South Carolina. Survivors include her husband of 74 years, Hyrum; her daughter, Julia Colleen Marshall of Reno, Nev.; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Mary POWELL of Homedale, Idaho; her daughter, Kay Perkins of Nampa, Idaho; and her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Debbie POWELL of Centennial, Colo. She has 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren. Survivors also include four sisters, Frances Buhler of Twin Falls, Idaho, Iris Hanson of Nampa, Idaho, Inis Turner of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ruth Olsen of Pocatello, Idaho. Clover was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Newman Ormond; and sisters, Georgia Mathews and Elsie Fowler; as well as two sons-in-law, Darrold Jack Marshall and Lee Perkins. The family wishes to express their special thanks and appreciation to the Relief Society of the River Heights and Kuna 4th Wards for their assistance and support. The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Life's Doors Hospice (Connie Marshall, Alta, Gwenda) and volunteers, LeRoy and Mathew, and her granddaughter, Jessica Hirst for their care during her housebound time for the past several months. During her final days, Clover's family and friends gave her comfort and support. She is now resting in the arms of the Lord. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the LDS Chapel, 6650 N. Meridian Rd. (Meridian Road & Chinden Blvd.). The family will greet friends and family on Monday, June 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Relyea Funeral Chapel, 318 N. Latah and from 11-11:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday prior to the services.
