Dorothy Marie
Passey, our dear Mom, Grandma, Mother-in-law and Friend, of
Soda Springs,
Idaho went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Caribou Memorial Hospital in
Soda Springs. She was 83 years old.
Dorothy was born in
Pegram,
Idaho on December 11, 1925 to
Milford “Pat” and Alta
Murphy. She was one of nine children. She spent most of her youth in
Pegram and later moved to
Montpelier, where she operated several cafes with great food, humor and laughter. Dorothy came from a musical family and she and her sister Gloria would sing and play guitars at rodeos. She later moved with her family to
Soda Springs where they managed a grain buying and selling operation. Dorothy always had a cute joke to tell. She worked for
Soda Springs Phosphate until her retirement.
Dorothy was an accomplished painter, and her specialty was painting horses for many of her friends. Dorothy was also a published poet and her “Slug Creek Drive” and “From Where I Stand” are from her heart and true stories she told in rhyme. Dorothy was proud of her extensive collection of arrowheads and she had a story to tell about each piece she found. Dorothy loved a good book and a good joke and she had a great laugh. Dorothy was an incredible cook and would spend days getting ready for that perfect meal.
