(Special to the Statesman)
Nampa (ID) - Vinta DeWittt Heithecker, 42, assistant postmaster at Nampa and postal employee for the last 25 years, died Wednesday afternoon at 12:15 in a Boise hospital, following a lingering illness.

Heithecker came to Nampa in 1905 from Hay Springs, Nebr. Two year later he entered the civil service and was one of the first rural mail carriers out of Nampa. From rural carrier, he advanced until he was made assistant postmaster several years ago. Because of ill health, he asked for a leave of absence from his duties early last fall and in September the family moved to Boise where Mr. Heithecker had been under medical care since.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jessie Ruse, daughter of one of Nampa's pioneer families; two daughters, Mary Margaret Heithecker, and Helen; one son, Robert; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Heithecker, of Franklin district, and one brother, Henry Heithecker, of Franklin.

The body is at the Robinson funeral home. No funeral arrangements had been made Wednesday night.

He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks for which he was treasurer for several years.
