There were a million shares of stock issued on the Little Smoky Mining Company and my great grandfather, August Hoff, purchased 500 shares from D.W. Zent certificate #11. It was affiliated with the Red Star Group of mining claims... this was issued on July 1, 1939. Please by some miracle, that this parcel of land still exists and how can I move forward on this? I am earnestly seeking someone's help with regard to the mining certificate I hold that was handed down to me. Sincerely, Leslie

seeking info on Camas County homesteads

I am interested in four homestead claims in Camas County from the early 1900s:
Halleck Mounce (my wife's grandfather);
Ray Mounce (Hal Mounce's brother);
Francis Marion Mounce (Hal Mounce's father); and
Fred Mounce (Hal Mounce's cousin).

As far as I know, none of these men stayed in the area beyond the First World War, except for Ray, who died in 1911 and is buried in the cemetery at Soldier, Idaho. The others were all living in different places by 1920.

What I would like to discover is what happened to their homestead lands. Each man was issued a patent, and I have copies of those files, but I do not know how or when the land was sold or otherwise disposed of, and I hope that learning about the disposition will give me some better idea on when and why the men moved elsewhere.

If some kind soul has a current plat book for Camas County and is willing to do a lookup for me, I can supply the property descriptions. I would then hope to contact the current owners of these lands and ask them what shows in their abstract or deed history regarding the chain of ownership.

Or if someone is able to check the deed records at the courthouse, I would expect that the Grantor/Grantee index for the "Mo" page would have my answers in one spot, or at least would provide volume/page numbers so that I might order the documents from the county.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Chuck Bennett

I am looking for information about a family "skeleton." In September of 1935, my gg-grandmother (Frances Murphy) was shot in Fairfield by Ida Angel (who was found innocent). I have one newspaper clipping and am expecting more next week. Family legend has it that she was "shot by a jealous wife, with good cause." Since Mrs. Angel was found innocent, it sounds like that was true!

I would like to correspond with someone who is familiar with the area. According to the paper, my gg-grandmother ran a hotel, but I don't know what it was called, or where it was located. Frances' father, W.C. Robinson, was from Jerome.

Any help would be appreciated.

When I was a child we camped at Ted Edholm's property on Willow Creek just under Nebraska Creek. He let us build a temporary structure and had given this small area to my Dad
and Uncle verbally. It never was consumated but I would like to buy this small parcel of land if possible. I believe Ted Edholm sold his holdings to the Yore brothers who later sold it to Marshall Ashcroft. Could someone give me the name of who owns it now or the name of the title company in Fairfield
so I can track it down?
Thank you
