The Family History Center at the Stake Center has reopened again for the winter. We are sorry to inconvenience any of you as patrons during the summer, but because of reunions, vacations and summer being such a busy time we had a difficult time finding enough staff to keep the center open.
We are now fully staffed with the same librarians and happy to be back on some kind of schedule for you as patrons and us as librarians that work there. The operating hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Beginning October 28, 2006 we will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for the public. We will maintain the schedule until the end of March except during the holidays.
We do close the library for the Thanksgiving holiday and for two weeks during the Christmas holidays. Please call the library, 554-5806, if there is any question about our hours.
We have four computers on the Internet, which gives access to sites and a printer for copying the information you will find. The only charge we have is 10 cents per copy for the paper. We welcome anyone who wants to know more about their family names. There is so much information out there now we ought to be able to find something for you.
If you have any questions please call one of the following: Sharon Pearson 554-3301, Jean Andersen, 527-3341 or LaVerne Coburn, 588-3307.

“See you in Arco on Atomic Days”

Arco celebrates this weekend the birth in our immediate area of the “Atoms For Peace” program. The program we celebrate was designed to turn the terror of the atom into a worldwide boon for civilization and an energy source without environmental damage, and the reversal of greenhouse gases, a suspected cause of global warming.

See you there and have a great time in the birthplace of the “Atoms for Peace”.
I would be glad to photo and obtain records from Oakdale Cemetery, Davenport, IA. I will certainly exchange family info with "inlaws" or "outlaws"...
I was there last spring and saw some broken hunks of stones under bushes and in the brush. I was hoping they were marker stones and not someone's family history. Four generations of my family have been buried there and the cemetery dates to the early 1800s.

Correction on the Burtons

One thing I have learned is there are a lot of double names in this family.I want to correct information that my fathers cousin Florence Burton is the daughter of Samuel Tilden Burton and Lucy Powell. They are all from Adair Co.Kentucky.He is the son of Thomas Collier Burton and Cussie Hictoria Judd.My cousin Flossie had three sisters named Lara,Tassie, and Dollie. It appears that there were a lot of Burtons from Kentucky. Samuel died at age 34, his wife not too long after he did.Florence and her sisters were orphaned which explains how she ended up with the Burtons in Missouri.I wonder who it was that raised her and her sisters.I found no history for them.It is very strange that another Samuel Tilden Burton born the same year but in Missouri and then moves to Idaho. If anyone knows of this family please write so I can have the rest of the story.Linda
Macee Dean Moncur of Arco, died February 13, 2004 at the Denver Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO of complications from Pulmonary Hypertension.

Macee was born July 16, 2002 in Boise, ID to Dean and Robin Diers Moncur. She was always full of surprises starting with her birth which came three months early. Weighing in at only 1 lb., 8 oz., she was a fighter. She kept everyone in suspense at home as well as her times spent in hospitals, playing possum with the nurses and removing her ‘leads’ to make the monitors go off, causing everyone’s heart to skip a beat.

She enjoyed teasing with her mother by shaking her head “no” and pointing her finger at her and cursing “dit”. Her brother and sisters would tease her and fake that she was hurting them and found this to be quite comical. She was known to be a Daddy’s girl as he would always come to her rescue.

THANK YOU, MACEE FOR THE
LITTLE WHILE.
Survivors include her parents, two sisters, Emjaye McDonald of Moore, Janette Moncur of Rigby, and one brother Dalton McDonald of Moore; grandparents Robert and Sally Diers of Arco and Josephine Spraker of Arco; great-grandmothers Nedra Diers of Arco and Betty Halverson of Mackay. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Spraker, great-grandfather Robert Diers, Sr. and Red Halverson.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Arco L.D.S. Ward with Bishop Marvin Jardine officiating. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco.
