I am looking for a town called Ako, Idaho. It is about 9 or ten miles from Idaho Falls. My grandfather had a 58 acre farm there in 1907 but I cannot locate where it was at that time. Does any one know where this town was located? He mentioned a Bishop Simmons and a Mrs. Jensen. I thought it may be Arco but that is too far away from Idaho Falls to be it. Anyone have any ideas? Appreciate any help I can get on this. Thank you, Kay.

Payette Enterprise
Payette, Idaho
Thursday, April 27, 1916

WHITE - HAMILTON NUPTIALS

Mr. and Mrs. Albert White of this city have issued cards announcing the marriage of their daughter, Miss Florence Emma to Mr. Charles Coleman Hamilton, at Idaho Falls, Idaho, Saturday, April 22.

The Wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. F. L. Wemett, pastor of the Idaho Falls Methodist church at the church parsonage. The newly married couple went at once to the home that had been prepared by Mr. Hamilton for the reception of his bride on his ranch near Idaho Falls, where the couple will reside, surrounded by many friends, the bride having been a popular teacher in that community during the past two years.

The Enterprise takes pleasure in extending to the newly married couple the best wishes of the bride's large circle of Payette friends. She has resided here since childhood, graduated from Payette High School with the class of 1912, took a course at the Lewiston State Normal, since which time she has been a successful and popular teacher and Mr. Charles Coleman Hamilton, who has won her for his wife, is to be congratulated upon his choice.

Note: According to the Western States Marriage Index, Charles C. Hamilton married Florence E. White on 4-22-1916, Idaho Falls. ch

Meagher in Booneville County 1915-1920

I'm looking for information on my Grandfather, James Francis Meagher. He and my Grandmother, Maude Overhulse Meagher, and their daughter (my mother) Patricia Meagher, lived in Idaho from about 1915 through at least 1918, but could have been until 1920. James registered for the WWI draft in Booneville County in 1917. James was a mechanic and/or machinest. He also was some sort of musician. He had a considerable drinking problem, so there may be police logs. My mother, Patricia Meagher, would have been old enough to have started school while they were in Idaho. I'm also trying to see if James might have returned to Idaho after 1926, after he and Maude divorced, where any trace of him in California disappears. Thanks for any assistance you can give me.

I found a marriage record for Eva Brown and Joseph Murphy in Elko, Nevada dated 12 April 1921. Joseph stated his home was Idaho Falls, Idaho. I wonder if there was a mention of this marriage in the local paper, or any other way of placing this family in Idaho Falls after 1921. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

The Sun, San Bernardino, CA - Monday, August 16, 2004

LYNN L. JOHNSON joined the Air Force when he was a teenager and rose to the rank of senior master sergeant in a 25-year career.

"He was a strong man, and a very good family man," said his granddaughter, Wendy Terry of Ontario (CA). "He loved to show us pictures and tell stories of the wars and his planes."

Johnson, a 13-year Yucaipa resident, died August 7, in Redlands (CA) after a stroke. He was born June 9, 1916 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. As one of 10 children, he worked on farms to help his widowed mother support the family.

"He was in the service while I was growing up," said his daughter Edna Ernst of Yucaipa. "I lived all over...I was proud of him."

Johnson was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force. He retired in 1958 and worked as an aircraft mechanic for Pratt and Whitney in Florida. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He retired for the second time in 1978.

"He was a very pleasant person," Ernst said. "He was easy to get along with and always helped other people. Johnson moved to Yucaipa in 1991 and took up gardening. He grew geraniums and irises. "He loved to putter around with his plants," Ernst said. "And he'd help neighbors with theirs."

He enjoyed spending time with his family. "He was always there - very supportive, very proud," Terry said. "He always did the right thing."

Other survivors include a son, Larry Johnson of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. August 23 at Riverside (CA) National Cemetery. Arlington Mortuary in Riverside is handling arrangements.

I have most of the dates I need, but if anyone knows anything about them I would like to know. Thanks.

Almina Johnson died 14 August 1981 in Idaho Falls, Bonneville, ID at the age of 92, and is buried in Wilford Cem. She was the widow of John Frederick Johnson, and the daughter of Sarah Sylvestia Rose and John Henry Woodfield. I'm researching this line (she is my great aunt) and trying to fill in a few of the missing blanks. I would greatly appreciate any information you might have to share about her and her family, and would be delighted to share the information (and disinformation, no doubt) I have collected on this line. Thanks in advance, MCS

I was sent some copies of some material from a notebook at the FHC in Idaho Falls. The binder is called "Rose Hill Cemetery." I am confused over this. I have several people who are included in that binder, but obits & death notices says there were buried variously in Annis Little Butte Cem., Menan Cem, or Rose Hill Cem.

Rose Hill seems to be used synonmously with Annis Little Butte.

Can any shed any light on this? TIA.

Where can I obtain records of burials in this cemetery? Are there any other cemeteries nearby that might have been used?
