I am sorry, but I am not a member of the Blechert family, even though I attended school with Delmar. I am a volunteer for Rootsweb and place obituaries in a few counties where I have either lived or am acquainted. May I suggest that you contact the mortuary that handled Delmar's services and see if they can help you contact family members.

A.M. Henley

John Woodrow (Jack) Taylor (1916-2009) Obituary

Idaho State Journal, 10/15/09

SODA SPRINGS - John Woodrow (Jack) Taylor passed away on October 8, 2009. Jack was born August 20, 1916, in Montpelier, Idaho, to John E. and Genevieve Shupe Taylor. He was the third of six children and the only boy. Jack grew up in Montpelier, attending school and teasing his sisters. He graduated from Montpelier High School and continued his education for another two years at Utah State University, where he studied forest science and was a member of the Delta Nu fraternity. During the summer when school was not in session, Jack worked as a butcher at Jones' Market in Montpelier and was a state game warden.
He also spent time wooing a local beauty, and on November 26, 1937, he married Enid Maurine Peterson. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in November of 1963.
In 1938, Jack began a lifelong career with the Union Pacific Railroad - first as a fireman, and later, an engineer. Eleven years and two children later, the couple relocated their family to Pocatello, Idaho, where Jack continued his work on the railroad. He began a 25-year volunteer position as a meat cutter for the LDS Bishop's Storehouse and created posters and other artwork to advertise activities for his church.
Jack was an artist. He was a talented calligrapher and cartoonist, painting window signs for Frasure's Market. In 1982, after 44 years of service, Jack retired from the railroad. He began painting with oils and became a member of the Pocatello Art Center.
Jack was an avid gardener. His garden was a masterpiece of both engineering and agriculture. His vegetables were beautiful, plentiful, and tasty; and he shared his harvest generously with others. He was also a voracious reader with an enviable collection. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jack was very generous with his time and service. He watched over neighbors, mowing lawns for people who could not do it themselves, and delivering groceries to those who could not leave their homes. He cut game meat for both friends and relatives.
Jack and Enid moved to Orem, Utah, in 2006 to be closer to family. After 71 years of marriage, Enid passed away in 2008.
Jack is survived by two children, Dr. Jacqueline Taylor Voyles of Orem, Utah, and Dr. John E. Taylor of Boston, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Beverley Repp of Penn Valley, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and four sisters, Bertha Berger, Nelda Roderick, Mary Day, and Ione Hertager.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to the management and staff of the Courtyard at Jamestown Assisted Living Community and Vista Hospice Care for their respectful and tender care of Jack.
Jack was a blessing in our lives, and he and his many talents and generosity will be missed dearly.
Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at noon at the Sims Funeral Home in Soda Springs. Family will meet with friends on Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to services. Burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery.
Published in Idaho State Journal on October 14, 2009

Frederick John Michel (1921-2009) Obituary

Logan Herald Journal, 09/19/09

LOGAN, Utah - Frederick John Michel, or Johnny, as he was called by family and some close friends, passed away Sept. 16, 2009, at Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation following a short illness. He was born April 25, 1921, in Bern, Idaho, to John Michel and Margaritha Amacher Michel. Bern to Montpelier, Idaho, was still covered with snow that April day. George Aleman, his uncle, traveled to Montpelier with horse and sleigh to get the doctor. Johnny was about a year old when the family moved to Logan, Utah. Johnny loved the outdoors. He was happiest when he could be outdoors working or playing. One hot summer day in late 1930s, he got this "urge" to visit his uncle and aunt in Bern, Idaho. Without any extensive preparation he hopped onto his one-speed bike and headed up Logan Canyon to Bern. Night came so he took shelter under a rocky overhang. The following day he finished his ride to Bern. He spent the night in Bern returning to Logan the next day. He always said he was just a "little" tired following his bike trip. Johnny on occasion had a weird sense of humor. One summer afternoon, during his high school years, he was working outside and came into the house with his hand wrapped in a rag. He asked his sister Esther to reach into his pocket and get his handkerchief. Upon reaching into his pocket, she found not a handkerchief but a water snake. She jumped as high as the house and let out a scream that could be heard for miles. I know, I was there. Following his graduation from Logan High in June 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. At that time the army still had a cavalry unit, which he wanted to be part of. Unfortunately the unit was discontinued about that same time. During World War II, he served with the 3rd Division. During the Korean Conflict he served with the 7th Division. Johnny was very private about his war experiences. One felt very fortunate if he would share only bits and pieces. During his 20 years in the U.S. Army he lived in many states and many parts of the world, becoming familiar with the people and their cultures. On Dec. 31, 1963, after 20 years of service in the U.S. Army, Johnny retired. Following his retirement, he moved back to Logan, Utah. In 1966, he started school in Salt Lake City, attending Utah Technical College and earning a degree in applied science. For the next several years he worked as a carpenter and also helped different farmers during harvest. Johnny loved visiting with the families of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by one brother, George (Angelia) of Sacramento, Calif.; five sisters Esther (Thomas) Kirkham of Salt Lake City, Utah, Magdalene of Sacramento, Calif., Ruth (Angus D.) Woodruff of Orem, Utah, Norma (Elmer) Reese of Nampa, Idaho, and Betly (Stan) Needham of Jackson, Wyo. He was preceded in death is his father, John Michel; mother, Margaritha Amacher Michel; brother, Eugene (Golda) Michel; and sister, Ryta (Richard) Bischoff (Doyr) Cornelison. We will miss you Johnny. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 21, at the Logan City Cemetery, 1200 East 1000 North, in Logan. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center Street, in Logan. Services are under the direction of Allen-Hall Mortuary. Condolences and thoughts may be expressed to the family online at www.allenmortuaries.net.
Published in Logan Herald Journal from September 19 to October 3, 2009

John Berrey Vermaas (1974-2009) Obituary

Deseret Morning News, 09/16/09

On September 11th, 2009 John Berrey Vermaas, enjoying a beautiful day with beloved childhood friends, died in a four-wheeler accident at Green Canyon near Rexburg, Idaho. He was 35.Born in Pocatello, Idaho on February 22, 1974 as the first child of William and Hanna Vermaas, John began life as a 10 lb 8 oz infant, and was - in so many ways - BIG in the lives of his family from that time. His generous smile, rich laughter, and humorous personality were a joy to his parents and grandparents, and throughout his life he played a guiding and influential role in the lives of his younger siblings Jenny Marie, Leonard Lance, Amanda June, and Billy Dean, who are blessed and honored to have had such a loving big brother. John was a pleasure to associate with. He had many wonderful friends in Salmon, where he graduated from high school in 1992. He loved them well, and their parents, often referring to their mothers collectively as his "other moms." Wherever he lived, worked, and attended church he endeared himself to people as he served and uplifted them. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout at age 18. In 1993, John accepted a call as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the California Los Angeles Mission where he continued to bless the lives of others in his efforts to share his fervent belief in Jesus Christ. It was in this capacity that he became associated with Erica Burgess Olson, who he later befriended and fell in love with. John and Erica were married on December 28th, 1995 in the Logan Temple. This marriage gave John the opportunity of being a father to three very special children. Robert Saxon was born in 1997, followed by Sara Ivie in 1999, and Kathrine Morgan in 2007. His fondness for his wife and children was evidenced by everything he did in life and the smile on his face every time he looked at them. John is survived by Erica Olson Vermaas (wife), Robert Saxon Vermaas (son), Sara Ivie Vermaas (daughter), Kathrine Morgan Vermaas (daughter), William and Hanna Vermaas (parents), Jenny Marie Vermaas (sister), Leonard Lance Vermaas (brother), Amanda June Evans (sister), Steven Rae Evans (brother-in-law), Billy Dean Vermaas (brother), Xandi Brooke Vermaas (sister-in-law), Dr. Victoria Burgess (mother-in-law), Eric Olson (father-in-law), Dr. Eden Olson-O'Donnell (sister-in-law), Seth Burgess-Olson (brother-in-law), Abraham Lester Burgess (brother-in-law), Zachary Olson-Burgess (brother-in-law), as well as three nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents William and Marie Vermaas, Wanda and Gerald Duncombe, Ivan L. Akers, and his uncles Michael and Robert Vermaas, and Wallace Eugene Akers. Services for John will be held on Thurs. afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Salmon LDS Stake House on 400 Daisy Street in Salmon, Idaho. A graveside service will be held Friday morning at 10:00 at the Wardboro Cemetery in Montpelier, Idaho. A Memorial Service will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sat. at 10 a.m at the University First Stake house on Mario Capecchi Dr.

Published in Deseret News on September 16, 2009

Russell B. Clark (1900-2009) Obituary

Deseret Morning News, 09/13/09

108-Years-Old Russell B. Clark, Utah's oldest man, passed away peacefully in his 109th year on September 10, 2009. During the last months of his life he was a resident, with his wife, Donna, at the Mountain Air Assisted Living Facility in Payson, Utah. Donna died five weeks earlier on Aug. 6, 2009. Russell was born in Montpelier, Idaho, November 19, 1900, to Wilford Woodruff and Pamelia Dunn Clark, as the ninth child in a family of 11. He grew up as a farm boy in Montpelier and Georgetown. He developed an early interest in medicine through watching and assisting his mother as she cared for neighbors. He went on to study medicine at the University of Utah and Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. His M.D. degree was awarded in 1929. He married Ruby Dorius the same year, and they later had three children, Beverly, John, and Barbara. After 19 years of successful general practice in Chicago, Russell moved with his family to Southern California in 1948, where he acquired additional surgical training and purchased a private hospital in Artesia. Change over years led to divorce. He married Donna Keeney in 1951, and they had two sons, Robert and Stephen. Russell's professional success in California included ownership and management of the Artesia Hospital plus a second hospital in Glendora. In 1968 the family temporarily moved to Hawaii, where Russell served as doctor at Church College of Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii). In their later years, Russell and Donna lived in Santa Ana, CA; St. George, UT; Orem, UT (Seville Retirement Residence); Salt Lake City, UT (Brighton Gardens); and Payson, UT (Mountain Air Assisted Living Facility). Russell was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his life. Before his medical training he served from 1919-1921 in the Southern States Mission. Later service included bishop, high councilor, patriarch, teacher, and senior missionary (with Donna) in Fort Lauderdale, FL and Jamaica 1980-1981. During many years of medical practice in Chicago and California, Russell blessed the lives of thousands of people. His community service included the Kiwanis Club, Boy Scouts of America, and the Artesia Chamber of Commerce. He loved to travel and to meet new people. Loyalty to his family roots in farming was manifest by continuing involvement at Springdale Farm in Georgetown, ID. Russell was successful in his business ventures, enabling quiet and continuing philanthropic donations, mostly to educational institutions and the Church. One of those, the Russell B. Clark Gerontology Conference at BYU, was directed toward education and assistance of the elderly. He drove his own car, thankfully without an accident, until age 104. On-going business interests in Nevada resulted in his being honored as America's Oldest Worker by the U.S. Department of Labor in October of 2003. He was also a team member, coached by proud sons, of the Beach to Bay Relay Marathon in Corpus Christi, Texas, at ages 98 and 99. Dr. Clark will be remembered for his cheerful and friendly manner, his sense of humor, his happy outlook on life, and a remarkable vitality which extended into his 109th year. Russell was positive and generous by nature. His family and friends were blessed by his life well lived. Dr. Clark is survived by his five children: Beverly Johnson (Dr. Dale G. Johnson) Salt Lake City, UT; Dr. John Russell Clark (Antoinette Evans) St. George, UT; Barbara Boies (Robert Wayne Boies) Costa Mesa, CA; Dr. Robert Brent Clark (Anne Hess) Salem, UT; Stephen Craig Clark (Lindi Hamilton) San Diego, CA; 24 grandchildren, 53 great-grand children, 26 + great-great-grand children, and his beloved younger sister, LeOra Clark Larsen (102 yrs.), Salt Lake City, UT. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State Street, Orem, UT and also one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the chapel at Wasatch Lawn. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Cemetery following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends contributing to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund, the LDS General Missionary Fund, or the LDS Humanitarian Fund.
JUNE BREWER BELL (1927-2009) Obituary

Standard-Examiner, 10/11/09

OGDEN - June Brewer Bell died in Ogden on Friday, October 9, 2009 of causes incident to age. She was born June 21, 1927 in St. Charles, Idaho, the first child of G. Stanley Brewer and Emily Wallentine Brewer. She attended her early years of elementary school in Rexburg, Idaho, and then moved to Ogden. She worked through her school years as a cashier at her father’s Dinner Horn Grocery Store on 24th and Grant. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1945, and Weber State College in 1947 with her Associates Degree.

She married George Lee Bell in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on August 4, 1947, which was the beginning of a true union of souls that continues today. They began raising their family in Ogden. She was the mother of eight children - seven sons and one daughter - and her service to them and to her 46 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren defined her life.

She lived in Spring Glen, near Price, Utah, for several years in the late 50s and early 60s, where George was the credit manager at Sears and Roebuck. They returned to Ogden, and became members of the Ogden 12th Ward. She lived the remainder of her life in Ogden, moving to Forest Green in 1990.

June deeply loved music all her life and was a serious and accomplished pianist and taught piano lessons. She was a member of the Edward MacDowell Piano Society. She was also a member of the “Crescendos” women’s sextet, and often accompanied soloists in church and other musical performances. She loved to embroider, and was very frequently an active and interested participant in conversation while embroidering or doing other close handwork. She loved to read, was a member of the Mystia Literary Society and the Fine Arts Guild, and was famously particular with her children about correct English grammar and usage. She was an active and diligent member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints all her life, serving faithfully in many callings and positions and supporting her husband in his years of service as bishop. As George said of her, “she has a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as solid as a brick wall.” Although she served as President of the Ogden 12th Ward and Mt. Ogden Stake Relief Societies, some of her best service was in laboring to raise funds for and help build a new LDS Chapel in Spring Glen. In the 2½ years after her husband’s death, June did “indexing” temple work, transcribing over 20,000 handwritten names from public Internet records into digital form.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband George L. Bell, and is survived by her children, Gregory S. (JoLynn Barker) Bell, Fruit Heights; Christopher J. (the late Karen Harris / Tammy Red Parker) Bell, Kaysville; Dexter L. (Rebecca Crandall) Bell, Centerville; Corey George (Kristen Sorenson) Bell, Farmington; Justin Douglas (Liane Ellertson) Bell, Salt Lake City; Nathan Wynn (Melanie Muir) Bell, Moraga, CA; Allyson Bell (Michael) Tanner, South Ogden; and Daren Russell (Janet Macedone) Bell, Farmington; by sisters Marilyn (Frank) Johnson, Centerville; Beverly (Jack) Cope, Las Vegas; and Kathi (Tom) Kimble, Salt Lake City; and brothers Stan (Diane) Brewer, Salt Lake City; and Douglas (Linda) Brewer, Holladay.

Although reserved and thoughtful, she was also highly sociable, and she and her husband loved to attend parties and gatherings, had a wide circle of friends, and loved to have visitors. She was an excellent and sympathetic listener to anyone who needed to be heard. She nursed her children and husband through many illnesses and other health struggles, and was devoted and patient through them all. She was a refined and noble soul, an elect lady, completely dedicated to her family and to service, and we deeply appreciate and love her for her constant kindness, generosity and goodness.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 16 at 11:30 a.m. at the Canyon Crest Ward Chapel, 6350 Combe Road, in Ogden, with Bishop David Goff presiding.

Friends and family may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel one hour prior to services.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.

The family requests donations be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.

Send condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com

The summer of her graduation, Jackie went to Jackson, Wyoming, for summer employment.
In the fall, Jackie attended college at BYU in Provo, Utah.
