Harold Vernon Nelson, 84, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 of natural causes at Washington Terrace Center, Washington Terrace, Utah.
He was born May 7, 1934 in Montpelier, Idaho to Etta Mae (Keetch) & Vernon W. Nelson. He married Marilyn Hogge on September 12, 1952 in Plain City; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Harold was a hard worker providing for his family throughout his life, and expressed his love through acts of kindness and service. He enjoyed the positions he held in the LDS church. He had a passion for animals, especially horses. He loved the rodeo, starting as a trick rider in his early years, and finding ways to be involved later in life. He enjoyed farming, good food, and people. He was a big tease.
Surviving are his; eight children, Craig (LaRae) Nelson, Blaine H. Nelson, Phil (Shelley) Nelson, Blair (Carol) Nelson, Rick (Linda) Nelson, Laurie (Doug) Maddock, Linda Hunt, and Leasa (Jeffrey) Wirrick; 38 grandchildren; and 82 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn, Granddaughter Brandee, parents, and four siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Warren Ward, 856 No. 5900 West. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Ogden Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment at the Warren/West Warren Cemetery.
