Norma Lowe Molen Obituary
1930 ~ 2017
Salt Lake City, UT-Norma Lowe Molen was born April 17, 1930 in Grace, Idaho, a small town where she was related to half the inhabitants and where her parents Mary Anne and Moroni Lowe were pillars in the community. With five older brothers her parents were thrilled to at last have a girl. She attended school in Grace and Montpelier, the University of Utah, the LDS Buisness College and finally received a BFA from Westminster College. She married Ron Molen in 1955 and they had two sons: Mark and Steven, a daughter, Jill, then Lee joined the family. Norma's mother also lived with the family until her death in 1972. Norma was a splendid daughter, wife and mother and she also excelled as an artist. Her oils, water colors and pastels won many awards and were exhibited in local galleries. She loved to travel to foreign countries with her husband and their trips often included her children or friends. She enjoyed book clubs, dinner groups, and after her son Steven's murder, helped found an organization now called Utah Gun Violence Prevention Center. The result of her numerous activities were many lifelong friends. Norma suffered the last decade of her life from a failed spine operation, but never gave up. She was swimming with her husband just a week before her stroke. Her daughters and husband were present around the clock during her time in the hospital and her few days at home. She was surrounded by family members on September 28th when the peaceful end came. She will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service at Red Butte Gardens will be held November 6, 2017 at 11:00 am. Please join the Molen family in celebrating a life well lived.
