SUNNYVALE, Calif. – John Gary Martin, 61, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sunnyvale, Calif. He was born on Aug. 18, 1950, in San Jose, Calif., to Marion B. Martin and Melba Jaussi. After high school he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Manchester, England.

John loved baseball. He loved to play baseball and had an extensive collection of baseball cards. He was a real genuine person and was very happy-go-lucky. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing. He was a collector of many things, baseball cards, coins, and trains.

John is survived by his mother, Melba Martin, of Preston, Idaho; a sister Sharan Martin of Preston; a brother Jerald L. (Gemie) Martin, of Plano, Texas, currently serving as president of the California San Fernando Mission; sister Nadine Martin (Brian Coburn) of Los Gatos, Calif.; and sister-in-law Sallie Martin, of Nibley, Utah. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and close friends, including his adoptive family in Sunnyvale. He was preceded in death by his father Marion and a brother Kenneth Martin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Paris, Idaho, Cemetery at approximately 3 p.m. on Saturday.
