I am searching for the final resting-place of the tiny infant son born to Elsie E. and Clifford A. Worley on 3 June 1946 with spina bifida at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Boise. His exact date of death is unknown, but believe it was with in a two-week period of his birth, as he did not live more than about 10 days.

A search of the Idaho Daily Statesman provided me with a notice of his birth, but was unable to locate an obit. Would there be any other Boise paper for that period that might of carried an obit or death notice?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Chris Sanders
sandy@theofficenet.com
Hello,

I have been searching for Martin Newton born about 1860 in Iowa for years and think I have found him in Boise. His mother (Elizabeth Lamb Newton) died when he was just a baby and he was farmed out to various family members so it has been difficult to track him. On one record I think I found him as a C. Martin Newton, and another record a Caleb M. Newton. I just found a Calab Martin Newton in the ID death index with a birth of 2/7/1858 and a death date of 6/10/1937. It would be amazing if someone could up his obituary for me and help me "find" this lost boy.

Thank you,
Annette

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Ada County, Idaho (Meridian) as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: JAMES HENRY MONROE
Born: 1929
Date of loss: July 16, 1950 POW
Service # RA19317470
C Co 19th Inf Rgt, 24th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Monroe family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
James Monroe Johnson-seeking photo

Seeking a photo of a James Monroe Johnson who lived in South Boise from 1906 (2133 Longmont St).
He was born 29 Sep 1845 (PA) and died 4 Jul 1936.

Other info:

He married Anna M. Olesen 22 Aug 1897 Glenn's Ferry, Elmore, ID, his second marriage. His kids from this marriage were:

George William
Albertina (married a Nelson)
Mabel (died young)
Edna (married a Myers)
May W (married a Doane)
Irene (single in 1936, living in Topeka)
Marie (d. bef 1936)

I believe he may be "my" James Monroe Johnson, a mysterious and aloof character who was born 28 Sep 1845 (NH) and supposedly died on April Fool's Day in 1909 in Washington State, but I haven't been able to find any trace of that for over 10 years. He was estranged and divorced from his first wife, and she may have told the family that he had died shortly before her own death in 1910. Anyway, if I had a photo of this James to compare with the ones I have of when he was with his first wife, it would help to confirm or rule out my suspicions. Thank you!

I am trying to locate the graves of my grandfather's wives. He is Walter Jackson Brunger (1886-1970) and is buried at Morris Hill Cemetery in Boise. His first wife, Emma Catherine Shuey, (1886-1846), Edith (who must have died in the 1960s?), and Ruth (1896-1976). I can't seem to find much information about any of the wives. I don't know if they are buried at the cemetery with him. What resources are available to me to find out without traveling to Boise?

Carter - Early Settlers

I have 2 or more relatives who were in Idaho by the late 1860s. I will also post this in the Canyon board.

Wm A Harman and Rachel E (Carter) Harman were only there (Boise Valley?) from 1867- early 1870 so probably isn't much on them.

Charles E. Carter and Nancy J "Jennie (Perry) Carter were there by 1870 census (Ada) and are still in Ada in 1889. By 1900 they are in East Caldwell, Canyon Co. and in 1910 & 1920 in Nampa.

Children - oldest to youngest - were: John E., Lilla R., Alta H., Bertha L., and Pearl.

There is strong circumstantial evidence that Charles is my 2nd great gpa's brother so I would like to get more info on Charles' family. (I have discovered Alta's and Bertha's marriages.)

What resources, such as Idaho histories might exist with info on this family? Any help greatly appreciated.

Nick

He resided there until abt 1930 after that I have not been able to find him. In the social security death index there lists a John Wood b 1905 who died in Boise, Ada, Id in May of 1985. If anyone could help me fill in the information on John I would appreciate it. An obituary lookup just might give me the information I need. With such a common name it has been a real challange locating him. I would be very gratefull for any information.

Man named Commodore Cary and wife died Ada County in or near Boise Idaho vicinity year 1911

I am seeking the info on surname Cary members, also spelled as Carey.
Included in the search is the date of death for both husband and wife occurring on the same day. Was this due to Fire? Flood ? Murder?
See sequential certificate numbers to go with same date of death showing as October 23, 1911.
Anyone willing or able to do an OBIT check for me ?
CARY, VIOLA LILLIAN BOISE cert #000519 B: 07/17/1867 Died: 10/23/1911
CARY, COMMODORE BOISE Cert # 000518 born 09/1857 died 10/23/1911
I believe that the above named connect also with others of the same surname living in Bonner County near Priest River including one who ran a ferry not far from present day Albeni Dam (Albeni Falls) along the Pend Oreille River in Bonner. Also connecting is another probable location which today is called Careywood along US 95. In this time frame stock was fun from BC down into Washington along the present day line of commerce (road and rail) but using trail and ferry.
A relative of Commodore Cary was named George Washington Cary.
Cary and surname Splawn were related by marriage(s)and some of them lived in Oregon's Willamette Valley prior to heading northwest into what evolved into Washington and Idaho.

obit - ERLING, Michael Craig (1945-2004)

Michael C. Erling, 59, passed away April 29, 2004, at Ashley Manor Care Center in Boise, Idaho, after a lingering illness.

Michael was born Jan. 1, 1945, in Everett, Wash., to Aksel and Louise Fadeff Erling. He was raised in Henderson, Nev., where he graduated from Basic High School. He continued his education at Southern Utah University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science degree in physical education and later received his master's degree in athletic administration at Idaho State University. Michael worked for Minidoka County School District for 23 years and was also a crop insurance adjuster for Farm Bureau for 14 years.

He married Toni Bennett of Holden, Utah, on Sept. 17, 1966. They moved to Nevada, where Michael taught and coached for seven years. They then moved to Paul, Idaho, where they have since resided. Michael served as athletic director, then vice-principal for Minico High School for a total of 17 years, and served as principal for six years at the Mini-Cassia Opportunity Center. He was loved and respected by administrators, teachers, staff and students for his dedication and service to the educational process.

Michael was a family man. He loved his wife and children and shared a close and busy life with them. Athletics played an important part in Michael's life. He loved playing baseball in his early years and golf in his later years. Many enjoyable hours were spent with his sons and golf buddies on the course. Another favorite past-time of Michael's was going to his wife's family farm in Holden, Utah. He loved the open spaces and the peaceful surroundings that were such a contrast to his busy lifestyle.

Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Toni of Paul; two sons, Scott (Sara) Erling of Ogden, Utah, and Ty (Dina) Erling of Burley, Idaho; one daughter, Jodi (Doug) Pill of Meridian, Idaho; three grandchildren, Michael Keefe, Taylor, Blayke; two sisters, Vicki (Larry) Atwood of Henderson, Nev., and Leslie (Richard) Holland of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004, at the Paul Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 424 W. Ellis, with Bishop Kelly Arritt officiating. Burial will be in the Holden Cemetery in Holden, Utah. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St., Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation for the assistance of the Ashley Manor staff and the Horizon Hospice personnel of Boise, Idaho. The family suggests memorials be sent to any D.L. Evans Bank to be used for the Mini-Cassia Opportunity Center.

Times-News, The (Twin Falls, ID)
Date: May 2, 2004
=========================
From my file:
SSDI: MICHAEL C ERLING 01 Jan 1945 29 Apr 2004 (V) 83347 (Paul, Minidoka, ID) (none specified) 530-28-4284 Nevada

Spouse: Toni Marie Bennett
Children, Ty, Jodi, Scott

Parents: Aksel Erling (1921-2002) and Louise Alex Fadieff (1924-1981)
Known children: Vicki, Leslie, Michael
My g-g-grandfather's eldest son, John Henry Hagan, b. 11-Sep-1836 moved to Idaho after inheriting his father's estate. He died 21-Mar-1894 and is buried in Dry Creek Cemetery. He was married to Susanna Myers, d. 29-Jan-1894 and also buried in Dry Creek Cemetery. Children were Ada, Charles, Curtis, Elizabeth, Effie and Clarence. My information on this family is at http://www.frankhagan.com/genealogy/getperson.php?personID=I...

I'm looking for descendants of John Henry Hagan who may have more information on his father (Samuel H. Hagan) and his ancestors. We suspect that John Henry, as the eldest son and heir, may have had records such as a family Bible that could help us get past our "brick wall".

I am part of the Woodall family, my g-grandfather came to the US about 1885-1887. We believe my g-g-grandfather was named William Woodall and his wife was named Sofia. I along with some cousins are in the Woodall Family DNA project at familytreedna.com and have make some interesting discoveries. We are looking to flesh out the family tree. Some Woodall cousins and I are trying to piece together the family tree, and we found this:

William Woodall born abt. 1850 from Dudley, Ship's passage on the Wisconsin from Liverpool to NY 9-9-1885

Settled in Boise Idaho with wife Sarah Jane 4 children Alice, William, Edith, Harry.
son William married a Lillie Myrtle Wolfe of Ohio had 8 children, 4 born in Ohio 4 in Idaho
William born abt: 1850 died 1927 Boise,Idaho
Sarah Jane living with grandaughter Lillian F. White & her huband John on a 1930 census on Broadway, in Ada Co., Boise,ID ....she died Dec 1932 in Bosie, ID

Could be related to our Joseph then again maybe not. His parents names were William and Sophia though. The Myra Edgley David found that married a William Woodall was born around 1857. William and Sophia's son was born around 1850 makes me wonder, since William and Sarah can't be found on a British census after 1881.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Look up on William Payne born 1821, son Edward Payne

I'm searching for any information on William Payne born 1821 in Ohio. According to family records, he died in Nampa, Canyon, Idaho. Can anyone do a look up on this limited information, I do not have a death date even year?
He was married to Mary Ann Pence (born 1832) in 1853. They had three children as far as I can tell all born in Iowa.
Adeline 1854
Edward M 14 Oct 1856
Armilda Amanda 1859
I cannot find them in census records after the Iowas State Census of 1856 where they are in Franklin, Des Moines, IA.
Except for Edward. I see him in 1900 in Boise, Idaho with his family. Wife Elizabeth Ann Burton, children: Wallace, Jessie, Eugene and Delmont. In 1910 he is a Bank President and I would be very interested to know what bank he was president of, if you know or know how to find out I would be very interested.
So I have this huge gap of time where I cannot find anything. Any information would be helpful as well as death date and burial place of William Payne.
Thanks,
sheesyb@yahoo.com

Interested in the following Woods of Ada County:

1. Marvin A. Woods m. Lena Leyerly in Ada County, Idaho - 31 Aug 1922
2. Joe H. Woods m. Irene Louise Phipps in Ada County, Idaho - 27 Feb 1934
3. Marshall W. Wood(s) d. 5 Aug 1934 in Ada County, Idaho

I believe Marvin and Joseph to be sons of William Arthur Woods who in died in Canyon County in 1925. Marvin appears in Yamhill Co., Oregon in 1930. Joseph H. Woods MAY have died in Utah on 10 Oct 1991 per SSDI.

William Arthur's father was probably a Marshall Woods of Missouri and Colorado, so I'm curious if the Marshall Woods who died in 1934 in Ada County might be him.

Would appreciate any info on these families. Thanks, Craig Woods
