Perhaps hundreds of Kalowao County families had workers employed by Holmes & Narver, 1946-1962 and later, working under the Atomic Energy Commission in Eniwetok, Bikini, Christmas and Johnston Islands. Those workers were exposed to ionizing radiation and many later became cancer victims, still today dying of these cancers.
