My mother was born in Hilo, Hawaii April 5, 1944. Her father was Arnold Fensch and her mother was Helen Fensch (Maisaka?). I'm not sure about the spelling of her mother's maiden name and I know her father was enlisted in the army in Alaska (1940) but I assume was transfered to Hawaii during the war. After my mom was born, they moved to the US mainland to maybe Las Vegas, Nevada, Utah, or possibly Michigan where much of my family is now. I do know Helen remarried (year?) to Carl Hoffman and lived in Vegas until Carl was killed in 1973. I know little about my family in Hawaii but believe I may still have relatives there. I recall meeting an uncle Harry (Helen's brother?) when I was very young. Whe may have had a brother Sam also. I would like to trace Helen's lineage but because I'm not sure of the Japanese maiden name spelling, it's difficult.
