I am triying to trace my mothers ancestry. My mother was born in Hawi, Hi. Her maiden name was Duarte, daughter of Manuel and Elizabeth Ne. I believe my grandmother was descended from the Nawaa and Hewahewa line.
Mahalo for any help I can get......

trying searching Medeiros surnames. There was a Lucy Nawaa married a Medeiros. my family carried Kalua, but sometimes my greatgrandfather would carried Nawaa or Kalua. Solomon Kalua (Nawaa) had a cousin by the name of Simeon Nawaa I think resided on Oahu, but the family comes from South Kona and as for Kauai well that's another chapter. Family members said their surname was Kaluanawaa but still having trouble finding that surname, either Kalua or Nawaa shows up.

I am decendent of Nawaa Nui. She died with name Catherine Nawaa Joseph Lapper. Raised my grandmother and her sisiter Kahula Heleloa Kapule and Koali Kaiewe. They were born in Pahala, Hawaii. Father of these girls was John Kaiewe Sherrif of North Kohala around 1850s or so. Kaiewe is also known as Kaiawe. Relation to Mookini as in Mookini Heiau on Hawaii island. Looking for any info and looking foward to meeting my family members. Aloha and Ke Akua Pu. Mother of these girls is Keonokaikoulaokalani Kaiewe. Both Catherine Nawaa and Keanokaikoulaokalani is buried side by side @ makiki cemetary on Oahu.

Aloha Antoinette. I read your post on HIHAWAII-L rootsweb Message Board. I'm not sure how much help I can be to you, but I can tell you I share your family name "Kaiewe" aka "Ka'iewe". My grandfather, James Holani Kaiewe, born Jan. 1900, arrived in NY, probably around the late 1920's early 1930's from Hana Maui. He had a sister, Agnes, married name "Mai Lou". That's all I have to offer you at this time. Aloha, Cynthia Kaiewe Gerhardt

Hi my name is Jewel Nawa'a. My fathers name is Rawley Humuku Nawa'a. I just recently found out that all Nawa'a's are related. Looking for more info on how but a cousin of ours, pua Torres told us that all Nawa'a's are one family. This is my sister's email, you can get intouch with her if you have any info or just post a reply to this one. I believe my fathers grandfather name was Simeon K. Nawa'a. His son's name is Solomon Palua Kalu Nawa'a but some of Slomon's children took Kalua and not Kaluanawaa or Nawa'a
