Hi Sheila,

The oldest Statham ancestor that I can confirm is David Statham and he would have been born around 1811. The 1880 Census from Polk Co, GA indicates his father was born in Virginia. I believe, but can't yet prove, that John Statham was his grandfather (maybe his father?), but don't know which of John's sons he is decended.

The only clue I have is that Susannah Thomson (who is believed to be John's wife) had a brother named David. It's possible that my David was named after him.

I'll have to do a little more research.

Regarding the Calhoun's - do you already have the info on the family in Polk County? I can send you what I have from the 1870 Census if you would like. But beyond that I have nothing. I'll let you know if I run across anything though.

Regards,

Laura
