Daniel F. Handley, son of John A and Lucretia M. Handley was my great-grandfather. My grandmother, Emma, was the daughter of David F and Louise Batten (Batton) Handley and born in Walden, Bibb County, GA (near where Warner Robbins in now). My mother, Dorothy Shepherd Alley will be 94 in 10 days. I had lunch with her today and she recalled that 3 Handley brothers moved to Jefferson County, FL (east of Monticello). She was born on the Daniel F. Handley farm. She recalls that her grandpa was shot by a man named Spranger (I think it may be Springer.) Her parents took her with them on the train to see him before he died and to attend the funeral.I have a picture of the Daniel F. Handley family that was taken with the entire family dressed in their Sunday best in front of their "dog-trott" cracker house. No one is identified on the picture. I also have a picture of the siblings as adults. This photo must have been taken after the death of a parent since they are all wearing black. Their names are on the back of the photo.
