I believe I got the copy I have from Sandy Morrison of Montgomery Co GA. He is the grandson of JP (James Patrick) Morrison (back row - far right). At one time he was was working in the office of deeds and recording in Mt Vernon, but I don't know if he still is.

Don't have the pic right in front of me, but the little short man behind Sandy's right shoulder (I think he has glasses on) is Hugh Morrison. The tall man in the top right hand side of the pic (back) is J.P. Morrison (James Patrick). I think, but am not positive, that the short (humped over) woman on the left side of the pic is my gg grandmother, Mary Caroline Morrison McDaniel.

Another of my great great grandfathers is John L Morrison (Mary's brother).

Do you have any other info regarding the McDaniel siblings? I do not have any pictures of his father (who I assume is Poppa Alexander). Is there a way you can send it to me?

Interestingly, I think we are double cousins of some sort because I am also a descendant Jeremiah McDaniel and Martha Berryhill.

You are correct. I didn't realize that I didn't go back and put that on the pic. (Wow, posted it quite a few years back, didn't I). JP was the baby brother of my gg grandmother, Mary Caroline Morrison McDaniel. I have another picture of several of the siblings (after their mother, Ann Galbreath Morrison, had passed) that is posted on here somewhere. I have Poppa Alexander, James Patrick and Hugh identified in it, but can't put names with the rest of the faces. I think I know which one is my grandmother, but I'm not sure.
Adding to my previous reply--My wife's grandfather died in Reidsville prison. His family moved to central Florida prior to 1930. They consisted of his wife, and several daughters, of which Mary was one. She was my wife's mother, and was born in 1920. If this appears to be the family connection that you are pursuing, I can put you in touch with my wife via email Bob

Hi Everyone,
I am stuck! I am researching my grandmother's family, the Wheelers of Columbia County Georgia.
I can go back as far as Robert Wheeler born 1815, who was married to Paulina Wheeler born 1819. His son William Wheeler was born approx. 1837. I believe William's sister was Sarah Wheeler born 1839.
Does anyone have any information on Robert Wheeler's parents??? Again they are from Columbia County Georgia, Augusta area and seem to have stayed there untill my grandmother Myrtle Wheeler moved to Florida in the mid 1900's.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Amanda Long Lemke

Okay, that would imply in June 1963 last graduating class and in September 1963 your option of going into the 9th grade did not exist at Glenwood.

How is it you had the option of going to MCHS instead of WCHS, and how did you get to Mt. Vernon daily for those 4 years? I can't see buses from Wheeler county taking students into another county.

I think the class of '63 would have been the last year of the Glenwood HS. I started 9th grade in '63 at Montgomery County High School which was the first year of consolidation. About half of the Glenwood students went to the consolidated school in Alamo and the other half went to MCHS.

Greg McDaniel

Let me see if either of my two brothers, Ted and Greg McDaniel, can help. Ted, I believe, graduated from Glenwood High in '62 and Greg went to Mt. Vernon to graduate in '67. I was back in '56, sister Janice in '54. We all loved Glenwood High School and had some of the best teachers that helped all of us and gave us (not known at the time) a great jump start of the world to follow. Some of those teachers I was directly under were Ms. Reynolds, Mrs. Grimes, Mrs. Babb, Mrs. Hendrix, Ms. Joiner, Mrs. Futral, Mrs. Browning, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Stephens, Mrs. McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hill, Mr. Aligood, Mrs. Blue, Mr. Kent and a few others associated with other classes that I can't recall just now.

Trying to sort out some dates. From what I've read, Glenwood H.S. consolidated with Alamo H.S. in 1962. The first graduating class of Wheeler Co. H.S. was 1965. Did they just change the name of Alamo H.S. to Wheeler Co. in 1964? Was AHS the only high school in Wheeler Co. beyween 62 & 64? Are my dates all wrong? I'm confused.

In my previous reply it should have been Ussery and not Urserry. Go to findagrave.com, on the right hand side click on "Search for a cemetery." Select "browse by US county," then Georgia then Wheeler as the county. In "Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery" there are many Ryals. Orion Ryals and Malcolm and wife Ramie are three I knew in our Landsburg community. Orion told my Dad that his granddaddy went into the army for the CSA never to return. Orion was a WW I vet. That Ryals family had a beautiful farm (original was quite large.)

In the "Glenwood City Cemetery" on down in the Wheeler county list there are 17 Ryals. Annie Laurie Askew Ryals was dorm mother at the U. of GA who often gave me a ride home when I was a student.

My roots go way back in Wheeler county. Wheeler was a sub-division of Montgomery county. Wheeler became a county in 1912-13. The McDaniels, Clarks, McAfees & Urserrys (my roots) are traced back from Montgomery county then north of there to some of the first GA land grants then to NC and VA and back to the Bristish Isles (Scotch-Iris), hence Ireland and Scotland and I've seen (possibly) France and further back to Norway.

I knew several Ryals back in Wheeler county back back in 1940s and 50s. I lef tGA in 1961.
