Nancy Wise is listed as a fortunate drawer in the 1827 Land Lottery from Washington County, Wimberlys District. She drew Lot # 247 in Sumter (Old Lee County), which she sold to Nathan Haines in Washington County 1/28/1829 for $100.00. The deed identifies Nancy as the widow of John Wise of Washington County. Nancy Wise moved to Sumter County, where she married Philip Troy in 1830. I have reason to believe that Nancy's maiden name was Pennington. I also believe she had a sister, Elizabeth, and a brother, John Pennington. Any information on this person would be greatly appreciated.
