There's an Ezra in my ancestry too.. although distantly. I'm searching for the first husband of Luisa Jane Foskey-Ruis or I need to know if she was even married when she gave birth to Bertha M. Foskey-Gillis.. which I believe this is the Bertha M. that was mentioned in the previous post. She is my Great Grandmother on my maternal grandfathers side.

I married the grandson of Mamie Lee Braddy King. We found these threads and have a couple corrections and additions to make. I am not trying to step on any ones toes.

We know some of the children of OB Braddy and Maddie.

Daughter Mamie Lee Braddy King 1923-2007
Married Charlie King 7-17-1916 to 5-17-1994

Son Neal O. Braddy 4-30-1916 to 11-25-1975
Married Clarna King Braddy 9-21-1920 to 4-13-1996
(Clarna King Braddy and Charlie King
were brother and sister. They married
brother and sister from Braddy
family.)

Daughter Estelle Braddy (Keene) 9-21-1910 to 1-14-1993
Married Felton Keene 6-23-1910 to 3-22-1983

Siblings of O.B. Braddy:
Brother Estus Devon Braddy 6-22-1904 to 2-4-1979
Married Leila Beatty 5-21-1893 to 12-30-1958

My husband is pretty sure Estus and O.B. were brothers. O. B. was his actual name. The letters did not stand for anything. There also was an Otis B. Braddy and an Oliver B. Braddy. From what he understands, these three people are definitely three different people. We know that one of them married Maddie or Mattie Canady. We are pretty sure it was Oliver but I am not betting on it until I get further documentation.

Brother Rufus Braddy 1890-1961
Brother Willie Braddy 1894-1981
Married Lucile 1895-1979

We have gotten this information from family bibles, census records, and cemetery pictures taken at Braddy Cemetery July of 2009.

The phone # for the "Soperton News" is 912-529-6624. They don't appear to have a web site. I know they were around since at least 1931..

I noted while searching that the "Dublin Courier Herald" was the paper with the largest circulation in Treutlen Co. So you might check with them also. They have a websire at:

http://news.mywebpal.com/index.cfm?pnpid=909

Also there is a webpage called the National Newspaper Assoc.

The listings for GA are at:

http://www.nna.org/CommunityCenter/GA.htm

This site is not up to date as it list The Dublin Courier but doesnt list their website.. But it does have several small newspapers and their webpages listed..

wmharrell

I am researching my ancestors who were among the Pritchett, Meadows, and Lee families. My Great Grandmother was Dora Hannah Meadows Pritchett. Her mother was Ara Meadows married to James Meadows. Ara died in 1880 and James remarried in 1881 (I think). I would like to know who his second wife was. Also, my Great Uncle Carlos Lee was from Soperton. He was killed in Atlanta and buried somewhere in Soperton. His death was sometime between 1930 and 1936. I know that he was killed by a boarder in Uncle Carlos' boarding house in Atlanta and his body was sent to Soperton where the family picked up his body at the train station and took him to the Sammons Funeral Home. I can't find any record at all of his death. I would like to know who was accused of the murder, when it happened, and where he is buried. I have hit a blank wall. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mt. Olive Church in Aline does have a cemetery. It's across the road from the church. That church is located just over the county line in Candler County (near Stillmore). Check the Candler County rootsweb site - they have a listing of everyone buried at the cemetery.

A couple of corrections.

First, Rinda Miller's complete name was given on her Death Certificate (DC). It's "Nancy Ann Marinda Wall" I just didnt look at it. I went by the name given at Ancestry.com Ga Deaths 1919-1998. It was listed as just Nancy A. M. Wall.
I (heres a good word) ASSUMED it was listed that way because that's how it would be on the DC..

Second, George Albert and Nancy Ann Marindia (MIller) Wall were my Dad's Maternal Grandparents..They would be my Great Grandparents...

Bill Harrell

Royal Bud Phillips is buried at Boiling Springs Baptist Cemetery outside Soperton in Treutlen Co.I am interested in him because he had a son named Sherrod. The name Sherrod is found in every generation of my Phillips line.My working hypothesis is Royal Bud has some connection with Jethro Phillips who's son Joseph was the father of my known direct ancestor Isham Phillips.Google has a lot of data on all these folk so I will not quote here at length.Jethro is on the 1790 Census in Nash Co. NC.Isham was born in 1785 and died about 1860 in Barbour Co.AL.Other given names in my Phillips line are Burrell,Arrington,Millberry and Crecy. Please check out my posting history for details about my Phillips Family. Some family names include Sutton,Bryant,Bush,Sasser,Sanders ,Byrd,Faulk and Dunn.Thank you for reading my post.Happy 2005 and good hunting to all.Becky Lopez

Does anyone have any information on Lily Ann Davis? She is the daughter of Shelton Davis and Martha Hooks(my 2x great grandparents) .All I know is she was 5 mns on the 1880 census but it seems no one in the family knows about her so I am assuming she died as a tot.I know Shelton Davis is buried in the Herndon Cemetary(i believe the Herndons called him Uncle Shelt).Shelton and Martha's other children were Joel Madison;Christian and Rhoda. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ruth

There is a listing of the names of the persons buried at Harmony Church Cemetery. They're found in 'Graves of Montgomery, Treutlen and Wheeler, A Cemetery Survey of Three South Georgia Counties' by Coleman and Palmer.

Please list the full names of the Fowlers and Lawrences that you are searching and I will check the book for you. Or you may write the Ladsen Library in Vidalia and they will assist you.
