I'm looking for information on the families of my Ancestors James HEARD b. 1814 and his eventual wife Edith ROBERTS b. 1816. Some of my research has uncovered records indicating that both of them were born in Houston County although that county didn't exist until 1921.

Other records indicate that this couple married in 1836 in Sumter County and it appears that they had relocated there. I have not yet been able to find their marriage record or any other information about them in Sumter county. They eventually settled and raised a large family with descendants in Decatur County, GA.

They are my 3rd great grandparents and I am hoping to discover some additional information on their ancestors.

They also had a daughter named Aliwine (or Alewine) Casinder HEARD and I am hoping to find that perhaps ALEWINE is a family surname.
