I have several good reasons to believe that this William Jones could be a brother to my gggggrandfather, Wallace (Wallis) Jones, who married Susannah Beavert. Wallace and Susan were in the vicinity of Tamassee, SC in the 1810 census and were in Blount County, Alabama by 1819. Wallace had two adjoining land grants (ca. 1818) on Whetstone Creek in Oconee Co., SC., about 5-10 miles from Tamassee. On one of the plats, there was the surveyor's notation, "William Jones lives on this tract of land." This was about the time that William and Bashaba showed up in Rabun County. I would like to exchange views with any serious researcher of this William Jones in an attempt to find his connection to Wallace (if any). Who was their (his) father, possibly named William, and possibly from England or Wales? I hope you have done some original research and please do not cite unfounded internet gossip as fact.
