I just cannot get this out of my head. My 91 year cuz'n(now passed) said that my GGfather was a John Chadwick brn abt 1820/30 NC/GA died unk. She told me that John was called Big John the Mountian Man,and would help people in the Mtns like a preacher/curcuit rider,and was also was a Mason. I do know she has mentioned the name Abraham, but she may have been talking about a Abraham(Abe)Chadwick brn abt 1850's GA who I believe is my Gfather's (also a John Chadwick') brn abt 1852/60? GA brother. This lady was in the early stages of Alzhimers. I have a death cert for my Gfather John Chadwick age 65,and it states father John Chadwick brn NC,and mother Mary Chadwick brn NC. I do believe that Mary's maiden name may be Hodgens/Hodgins, but can't prove that,but I do know she had Grand Sons named Robert Chadwick brn abt 1881 GA,and Oliver Chadwick brn abt 1882 GA per the 1900 Anderson Co TN census. I cannot find her after 1900 when she lived with my Gfather John Chadwick in Anderson Co TN at the age of 69. My John was in Laurel Co KY by 1910, but Mary wasn't in the household. I also have check for her death in KY,and TN with no luck. Did Mary go to OK where I believe she had either Chadwick or Hodgins relatives or both. She may have returned to GA where Abe lived. I do know that a Chadwick relative who I believe was a James(Jim)Chadwick who died on a Indian Rez in OK abt 1950's was a relative of Mary's,could be a younger son. He owned land there,and some of the Chadwick's received Royalties from his property in OK. I have heard that it was RailRoad or Oil land or both. I was told that a Robert Chadwick had died in Ga abt 1930's,and I believe it was somewhere near Dalton GA,and it may be her Gson Robert brn abt 1881 GA.I was told that two of my uncles(Thomas,and William Chadwick) went to Ga to settle an estate abt 1930's. This Robert was believed to haved owned a Resort on a Mountian near Dalton GA?.
Sure could use some info on this line.
