I don't know what you have or do not have but I will paste below what I have on
Hosea Hales who married Drucilla
Hales 21 February 1819 (I may have that marriage date wrong).
3/5/99: Data from book of
Forrest D. Hale Sr.:
Hosea
Hale was born in Cumberland Co., NC on 29 February 1768. He lived there the first 20 or so years of his life and moved with his father and other relatives to
Wilkes Co., NC about 1795.
The earliest found on
Hosea is in
Wilkes Co., NC where he witnessed a sale of land by David Witherspoon to John Parks on 12 April 1796. Other witnesses were Samuel Bazewell and Thomas Allen. (Ref.:
Wilkes Co., NC
Deed Book F-1, pg 500).
Hosea married Sarah
Greene sometime before 1800 in NC (Ref.:Goodspeed Biographical and Historical Memoirs of Southern Arkansas; 1890, page 670.).
Sarah
Greene was born about 1765-1770 in NC based on the
Wilkes Co., NC Census of 1800. Sarah
Greene was the daughter of
Silas and Charity
Greene of NC and her sister, Lydia
Greene married her husband's (
Hosea) brother, Joel
Hale Jr., about 1792.
Hosea and Sarah
Greene Hale lived in
Wilkes Co., NC until about 1806 or 1807. They lived close to Hosea's father Joel
Hale, Sr. and their business transactions were interwoven.
- On 24 December 1799,
Hosea bought 445 acres on the north side of the Yadkin River, close to Lick Branch, from William Carrell. Joel
Hale Sr. witnessed the deed (Ref.:
Wilkes Co., NC
Deed Book D, pg 818).
- On 10 Ictiber 1802 Joel
Hale Sr. signed a deed giving
Hosea a
Negro boy, Jacob< "For natural love Joel has for
Hose(sid)". The deed was witnessed by John
Parker. (Ref.:
Wilkes Co., NC
Deed Book G-1).
- On 24 November 1806,
Hosea sold his 445 acres to Joel Sr. for $300. (Ref.:
Wilkes Co., NC
Deed Book C-1, pgs 492 and 493).
Hosea was either preparing to move or had already moved to
Georgia when he sold to his father his
North Carolina land in 1806. Hosea shows up on th Tax Lists of
Clarke Co., GA for 1807. Joel
Hale Sr. was not far behind. He sold the
North Carolina land and moved to
Clarke Co., GA about 1808.
On 1 January 1807,
Hosea bought 132.5 acres for $340 on Greenbriar
Creek from Fletcher James. The deed was witnessed by Peter Levin and Alin Hall (Ref.:
Clarke Co., GA
Deed Book C, pg. 363). Per the US Census of 1820,
Hosea still had this land and also had 10 slaves.
Sarah
Greene Hale died between 1810 and 1819. Hosea married his second wife Druscilla
Hale on 21 February 1819 in
Clarke Co., GA. There were no children born of this marriage. Druscilla, the daughter of James
Hale, Sr. was Hosea's cousin. According to the
Clarke Co., GA Census of 1850, Druscilla was born in NC in 1785. By this time she was a widow and lived next to her brother Moab
Hale.
Druscilla
Hale was a member of the Clousd's
Creek Baptist Church in
Clarke Co., GA. Church records show than on 14 January 1815, Britton Stamps brought charges against Druscilla for "being too familiar with a man who has a wife". Brother Goodman supported the charges by saying she had been observed displaying "improper conduct". At a conference on 15 March 1815, the church after "much debate" allowed Druscilla to retain her membership with "admonition". On 19 July 1817, Brother Whitehead charged Druscilla with "circulating scandalous reports and denying it". The charge was addressed at a conference on 16 August 1817 but Druscilla failed to attend. The conference voted to "exclude Druscilla
Hale from fellowship".
Hosea wrote his Last Will and
Testament (LW&T) on 22 November 1838. He died January 1, 1839 at the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 2 days. His LW&T was recorded on 9 January 1839 in

The Goodspeed History of Southern
Arkansas states "
Hosea Hale was a very quiet, unassuming Christian, and he served his God through the
Baptist Church, holding family prayer night and morning, and serving his church as a deacon for nearly one half century.
Hosea is buried on his old farm, along with other family members, in Oconee Co., GA. Graves in the family polot are marked only by mounds of rock. The plot is in a pasture.
The children of
Hosea and Sarah
Greene Hale had an impact on the
Hale family in several southern states including Georgis,
Arkansas, and Texas. Following are short histories on some of
Hosea and Sarah's children:
