I have been informed that my husbands african american Howard ancestors may have been owned by a white Howard family that owned a plantation during slavery called "The Glade" I can't find any information on this at all. In the 1870 census there are hundreds of Howard families, white, black, and mixed all living as neighbors in Maxeys township. Does anyone have any additional information here? It looks as if the family stayed there possibly indefinitely except for a branch or two that ended up in Wisconsin! But even they were still there up until the early 1900's. ANY help or insight would be appreciated!
