You will need to contact Wilson Elder at varsity@athens.net
for direction to the David Elder Cemetery. Or you can call me at 706-548-7773 or the Varsity at 706-548-6325 on Monday Nov. 29 when Wilson will be back. It is about 3/4 of a mile back in the woods!

I actually have been to both Elder Cemeteries on Elder Mill Road. I have included the names of them(with Longitude & Latitude coordinates) & directions. I am giving directions (for both cemeteries coming from Eagle Tavern on Main Street in Watkinsville.

A)David Elder Cemetery: Longitude 33.78306,
Latitude -83.343955. This cemetery is in the woods, but
it is in a pasture, near a abandoned white house. I had
no difficulty getting through the pasture-there was
a good path that had been driven on with a car.(It is located a half mile down a multi-family drive way off
Elder Mill Road.)

1)Head southeast on GA-15 S/North Main Street. Continue
to follow GA-15 South(4.5 miles)

2)Turn right on Elder Mill Rd(2.6 miles)

3)Turn left, across from #2528 Elder Mill Road. Follow
this driveway.(Go 4/10 of a mile). The road will curve to the right and go along the edge of a pasture(and when you see the white house, then the cemetery is just past the house on the left, in the edge of the woods(about 1/10 of
a mile). There is a white wooden sign that says "David Elder Cemetery".

B)Elder Mill Cemetery.

1)Head southeast on GA-15 S/North Main Street. Continue
to follow GA-15 South(4.5 miles)

2)Turn right on Elder Mill Road-go over the covered bridge.
After the bridge, not sure how far, there is a logging road on the right(with a flower beds on each side(with rocks around them)-and there is a chain, with a white tube
around it, across the logging road. If you park and walk down the logging road(about 100 yards) and you will see
the cemetery in a clearing. It is an easy walk-and the cemetery is very well taken care of. A couple of the tombstones have been broken. Hope this is helpful to you. Nancy Bedell (nancy.bedell@gmail.com)
