Looking for any information on the African American "colored" Family of Leigh's from Statum GA. Mary, my family member's Grandmother was born in Statum, GA around 1880. She had three known siblings Frances, Sally and Adolphus. Their mother's name was Harriet. Mary was married to a man with the last name Lutz, which he later changed to Hunter,they lived in Oaklahoma at one time, but he died in Missouri

My maiden name is Statum. I don't know if we have the same forefathers (lineage) however, I hard that there was a Statum, Ga. I could never find it on a map. Is it near Athens? My father's name is Nehemiah. His father's name was Mace Statum. Mace's father's name was Shad

I looked up the names Statum and Statham in the Athens-Clarke County, Georgia Cemeteries Index, and there's one entry:

Lucious Statham (b. no date, d. 24 May 1930, age 46 years. "May the resurrection find thee on the Bosom of the Lord"

He's buried in Brother Union Cemetery in Athens at the corner of Arch Street and Dublin Street. It's also referred to as the "Knights of Pytheas" cemetery.
