Dear Carolyn,
Blessings to you and your family in the loss of your father.
I will try to call you from my office on Monday. I am interested in everything you have written about - in general your memories of your early years on Cowpen Road and in the Cohuttas.
I would have to drive the road again to know exactly where you speak of since it has been 1.5 years since I last went down Cowpen Road. On December 30, I took a youth group hiking on Beech Bottom Trail. We were going down Cowpen Road, as usual, but had to stop and turn back due to bridge out. We were probably 5 or 6 miles down when we had to turn. I do recall some of the landmarks on the way: the Cisco School, a church on the right, some homes on the left and right, the game check station, the point where the Cowpen Road takes a hard right and turns up the mountain (or, if you continue straight ahead, the iron bridge at Jacks River where there is a little cemetery on a hill on the south side of the river).
Regards,
Dan Roper
