I am searching for the parents of my Great Grandmother, Catherine O. Brown Smith who was born 8-12-1845 in Georgia. By census record from Burnet County, Texas I have found that her father was born in South Carolina and her mother was born in Georgia, but I cannot find her on census in Georgia in 1850 or 1860. Family history says her father was half-brother to Joseph Emerson Brown, Governor of Georgia. This family did come from South Carolina. Joseph Brown lived in Cherokee County 1850 by census record. His father Mackey Brown lived in Lumpkin County 1850 by census record. I believe Catherine's family would have lived in that vicinity in 1850-perhaps moved by 1860 as she married my Great Grandfather in 1861 in Terrell County, by actual marriage record from Terrell County. Great Grandfather was living in Schley County 1860 by census record. She was disowned by family after her marriage and may have been crossed off the family list, but she should be on census in 1850 or 1860. Great Grandfathers name was James Jackson Manning Smith.
