Now that my children are grown..I am a grandmother (of 9!).. I have found myself becoming addicted to genealogy, family history, and research in general!
(My major's were English and Psychology with minors in Art and American History).
For a very short period of my life, I lived in Ludowici, Long Co., GA. I attended 9th, 11th, and 12th grades at Ludowici High School. My last year was 1967, although I left mid-term and completed my high school education elsewhere. I would be very interested in learning what became of my *old classmates*, friends, and teachers. If anyone reading this also attended LHS during those years, I would love to hear from you!
I would also be very interested in obtaining a list of marriages in Long County as far back as they *go*. Are they on-line anywhere that anyone knows of?
I write for numerous genealogical publications and periodicals, and belong to a sundry of genealogical and historical associations, and post to many forums. I also catalogue and list cemeteries on-line.
My father, Thomas Eugene Register, who was Supervisor of the mill in Ludowici, was laid to rest at Baggs Cemetery in 1965. During that time, I listed all who were laid to rest at that cemetery for my own private records. (There is also a memorial marker at our family cemetery in Butler Co., AL, for him as well as my brother, Rayford Walton REGISTER who passed away in 1998). I have also copied information from a privately published book, which was compiled by Cecil Calder GARRISON in 1968 entitled "Annotated Inscriptions of Long County, Georgia". This compilation includes names (occupants) of the following cemeteries: Baggs Cemetery; Elim Baptist Church Cemetery; Jones Creek Baptist Church Cemetery; Rye Patch Baptist Church Cemetery; and the Smith Family Cemetery. It also includes some notes as to who the spouse was, in some instances, as well as *child of*, etc. I can not 'personally' vouch for any of this information, but am sure the compiler entered all in good faith, and in an effort to assist others in their family research. As with all things in life, being human we are not infalable!
I would be happy to do look ups for anyone interested.
