Sethie, there is at least one family of Sheffields in Wilcox County during the 1830's to 1850's. The time period is very wide. I am not sure exactly when I saw them on the federal census but my McGees were there on the 1850 census but in MS by 1860. Have you checked on the AL census indexes for 1840 and 1850 for Sheffields? You may want to check the counties around Wilcox as well.
