I too am trying to figure this out. In the 1850 census
John Luke is 50 boorn 1800. That is not exatlu true as he was born in south carolina 1798.
Eliza Luke 32, james luke 27, Nancy luke 22, John Luke 21, Elbert Luke 16, Joseph Luke 12, Eliza Luke 10, william Luke 8, and Ethelard Luke 2.

I have puzzled over this for a while. My guess is that Eliza 32 is his daughter. I am not sure on the rest.
