I am looking for anyone that had family around 1833 and on that would have come in contact in any way with my GRT GRD Father Collins Roberts and his brother Lewis, I am told that Lewis was separated by slavery and when he came back he still had the Collins as a surname but Collins had it as a given name so my theory is that they probally were own 1st by some Collins and they gave my GT GRD Father the Collins for his given name and when the Roberts took ownership Collins received their surname.So therefore when they got back together with Lewis his surname was still Collins. Ok so this is what I have and I need to get any info that would help me to find out the link between the 2 names.I see no one listed in the history of the County with Collins so I'm kind of stuck except for the fact of all the other post that I've seen.So I really need to find out about Lewis Collins and who owned him.I thank you for any help that you can offer me in finding my roots.And I also would like to find out if in fact Collins Roberts had another name as a given name before he was given Collins.I do know for a fact that the whole family in the censes report are in the Race Section listed as M, meaning Mixed or Mallotto might be spelled wrong so help me out if know what I'm talking about.
