Hi Ross, I hope you've already found the answer to your question about where the deed might have been recorded. But, just in case--according to The Fourth or 1821 Land Lottery of Georgia comp. by Silas E. Lucas, Jr, Martha Rollins was living in Jasper Co. GA when she drew the lot in what was then Henry Co. Many people sold their lots immediately and never went to the county where the lots were. If you haven't found the deed, you might try Jasper Co. If that doesn't work, then figure out where David Smith was living before he moved to Henry/Newton. Look in that county. It seems to me that deeds were recorded wherever it was most convenient. And, sometimes deeds may not have been recorded at all (at least there are a few I've never found).
