I am seeking lineage information regarding William James Glover, a Revolutionary War soldier who settled in Franklin (later Hart Countyty about 1810. Specifically, I am searching for information regarding Glover's son, Joseph P. Glover (b. 1815, md. 18 March 1841 to Julia A. Brown (b. 1822)), and their son, William Judson Glover (b. 1846, married Lieu (?), b. 1851).

I am descended from William Glover also, through his daughter Lavina by his first wife, Hannah King.
I would like to share info with you on the Glover family. Do you have any info on William James Glover's parents or siblings? Would also like to know more about Joseph Pulliam Glover's descendants. -Gene Harrison

I, too, am descended from Levinia Glover. I have recently been in contact with some others who have a lot of information on the Glover family and who say that (1) William Glover's middle initial is actually unknown, and (2) that he wasn't married to Hannah King but his brother might have been. It gets curiouser and curiouser.

In any case, we are distant cousins!

Hi, I too am a descendant of William James GLOVER/Hannah Anne KING, their daughter Lavina Ann GLOVER. I also and am 1 of few ppl who believe that Wm James GLOVER was married to Hannah Anne KING first, BEFORE Elizabeth PULLIAM. Glad to find out another distant cousin is related to Lavina and believes that story!! I haven't heard yet that Wm James GLOVER didn't have a middle name, but I will keep that in mind. Here is my lineage and the info I've obtained:

William James GLOVER b 1760 MD, d 1835 GA
and his 1st wife
Hannah Anne KING, b abt 1764 NC, d before 1812 GA
{my 5th great-grandparents}

their daughter
Lavina Ann GLOVER b 1802 GA, d 1863 GA
and her 1st husb.
Samuel ROE b 1793 MD, d 1836 GA
{my 4th great-grandparents}

their son
Charles William Gilbert ROE b 1826 GA, d 1863 GA
and his wife
Dicie HALL b 1826 SC, d 1862 ?
{my 3rd great-grandparents}

I've seen on GenForum that Wm GLOVER was married ONCE, to an Elizabeth PULLIAM, which was around 1813 and that Hannah Anne KING was married to Wm's bro James and moved to AL. OK since, Lavina was born 1802, her mother couldn't be Elizabeth PULLIAM GLOVER's daughter because they didn't marry until 1812 or 1813. To me it's only logical that Hannah KING WAS Wm's first wife- she died around 1812, and Wm THEN married Elizabeth PULLIAM in 1812/1813. My records say that Wm GLOVER and Hannah KING were married 5-28-1782 in Wilkes Co, NC. I had someone in Wilkes Co look that up and here is what she found:

James GLOVER and Hannah KING, m 5-28-1782
bondsman: Edmond Carothers

Here is what else the woman found pertaining to a James GLOVER:

Found in Wilkes Co, NC court minutes, 1-30-1783:
Bastardy Bond
Benjamin Clover charged with begetting a bastard boy child on Elizabeth Adams, JAMES GLOVER and James Sutton, bondsman.

What that last part tells me, I don't really know, but my guess is that since alot of ppl went by their middle names back then, maybe this James GLOVER who m Hannah KING in 1782 really WAS Wm James GLOVER- he just went by his middle name {if he DID have one}. I know he had a brother named James, but you never know, Hannah COULD BE Wm's first wife.

Unfortunately I don't have any info before Wm James GLOVER like his parents etc. I live in MD and am unable to do any research right now, but as soon as I can, I will be sure to share it w/ all the Wm James GLOVER descendants!!

Last but not least, I've seen ppl spell Lavina Ann GLOVER's first name as Levina. Which is right? Have any of you seen that in documents? I try to spell it the right way, to avoid any confusion. Thanks!!

If you haven't seen it, Harold Travis Parker's "Pioneers of Hart County, Georgia" has 6 pages on the descendants of Joseph Vickery. Parker's book is not without errors, but it is great for leads and a must for research in the Hart/Franklin Co. area. It is available for sale through his family. You also can get it through the inter-library loan program at your local library.

Oh, I'm also a descendant of William Glover/Hannah King/whoever through their daughter Levinia Ann & Samuel Roe; and their daughter Amanda & Francis Marion Clark.

An unofficial, unpublished Genealogy of the Dunn, Crawford, Madden and Sanders Familes states that Mary Sanders,b1812,daughter of Elias Sanders and Mary Carter Sanders, married James Vickery and had ten children. Another daughter, Patience, b1806, married Joseph Hightower Vickery and had two children. A son, Elias, Jr., b1798 married Julia Vickery and had five children.
According to the account, Elias Sanders was the son of an English man and an Indian women. He married around 1795, the daughter of Thomas Carter. Mary was born around 1775 in SC.
I haven't verified any of this information. But it may help. If you run into any Maddens, Robert A in particular, let me know.
