Linda - I found the following on the LDS IGI NA:

Mamie DENSON m. 18 NOV 1879 in Harris Co, GA, to George W. ASHLEY.

(They appear on p. 526D in Ellerslie, Harris Co, GA, in 1880. He is 28 and farming, she is 22 and keeping house - no one else in household.)

Mamie ASHLEY m. 06 [sic] DEC 1887 in Harris Co, GA, to Ben OLIN [sic].

Haven't yet located a marriage for William DENSON and Anne E. SILAS or their 1880 household, if they were still living. Also can't locate Ben OLIVE on the 1880 census - trying to learn who his parents were. Do you suppose Ben had been married prior to Mamie and that Annie May OLIVE was a daughter from his first marriage? Can't find her in 1880 either. Also, if George ASHLEY (Jr., b. 1880) survived his mother, he should be somewhere on the 1900 census - perhaps with his step-father Ben OLIVE?

Thanks for the information you've shared!

> I'm not sure where this will lead, but the handwritten notes by Anne E. Silas m. to William Denson in the Denson Family Bible that passed down to me, noted the name of "Ben Olive". I have not had time to research this and it may be a week or so before I get a chance to do so. I am originally from Columbus, Muscogee County, GA.

[Later:]

In looking at the handwritten notes in the Denson Family Bible of Anne E.Silas, wife of William Denson, they had a daughter named Mary Frances Denson b. 22 Nov 1857. In the Bible, it looks like they called her Mamie F. Denson, and shows that she married G. W. Ashley 18 Nov 1879, and later
married B. Olive 21 Dec. 1887.

Under the "Births" section, Anne E. Silas wrote that "Annie May Olive was born Sep 18, 1878"

Also noted in the Bible is "George Ashley was born Sept 10, 1880." This is hard to read, but looks like 1880.

Under the "Death" section, Anne E. Silas Denson noted that "Mamie F. Olive died Jan. 15th 1897."

I have seen the name "Ben Olive" written somewhere in the notes by Anne E. Silas Denson, just can't find it right now. If this info fits in with your Olives, please let me know.
