The grave of Confederate soldier Bennett Gaines Holcomb will be dedicated, April 21, 2001, in Buford,(Gwinnett Co.) GA. A family reunion will follow. All descendants of Bennett are welcome. Bennett was the son of Joshua L. (T?), and Malinda Gooch Holcomb who settled in Rabun County, GA in the early 1800's. Bennett was born 9 June 1842, died 3 Aug 1923. He served with Co H, 1st SC, Artillery. His first wife was Nancy Minervah Wilburn. Their children: William; Joshua of Griffin, GA; Savannah married Paul Pelock of Buford, GA; Vianna married W.N."Frank" Wilkerson settled in Houston, TX 1920's. Nancy died and Bennett's second wife was Octavia (Shoemake?). Their children: Jessie Lee married Mr. Hamilton; Bennett O.(female), married Will Lynch of Atlanta; Isaac Harrison of Richmond, VA; Theo Ross of Richmond, VA; Jewel; Cleo P.; and twin Cora E.; Lula; Grover.
