Hello Bonnie,
I am sad that we did not locate you in time for the dedication but glad to now make contact with you. Yes, I would like to share information with you. Many of my computer records were destroyed. I have taken a full time job recently and do not have the time I would like to spend on this very rewarding work.
Here is one of my postings from www.genforum.com
"The grave of Confederate soldier Bennett Gaines Holcomb will be dedicated, April 21, 2001, in Buford, GA. A family reunion will follow. All descendants of Bennett are welcomed. Bennett was the son of Joshua L. (T?), and Malinda Gooch Holcomb who settled in Rabun County, GA in the early 1800's. Bennett was born 9 June 1842, died 3 Aug 1923. He served with Co H, 1st SC, Artillery. His first wife was Nancy Minervah Wilburn. Their children: Bennett, Nancy, William, Joshua, Savannah, Vianna. Nancy died and Bennett's second wife was Octavia (Shoemake?). Their children: Jessie Lee (married Mr. Hamilton), Bennett O.(female, married Will Lynch), Isaac Harrison, Theo Ross, Jewel, Cleo P., Cora E., Lula, Grover."

Here is some more on Savannah:

2. Lillie P. was b. November 1897, GA
3. Lizzie was b. Jan 1900, GA. She married 18 Jan 1916 to a Killingsworth.
4. Roy Guy was b. 8 May 1901, GA. he married Nora. Their children: Robert, Patrick, and Royce. Robert m. Jane and had Perry and Pam. Royce had a son, Steve, and other children.
5. Earnest Sylvester was b. 30 June 1910, GA. he married Sara Pass "Oddis". They had 3 sons: Carroll, Woodrow, and David. Woodrow married Carolyn Skelton, and had 2 sons: Brian and Todd. Todd married Staci and have a son, Andrew.
6. Bona Allen "Bonnie" was b. 5 Jan 1912 and d. 19 Aug. 1970. He married Maude Braswell. They had a son Gordon W. "Gordy". They lived in Atlanta.
I was able to make contact with Carolyn Skelton Pealock of Buford, but neither she or her sons attended the reunion.
Is your Elizabeth Maybelle the same as the Lizzie above?
The grave is located in Harmony Baptist Church cemetery, which is at the intersection of Bogan Road and Thompson Mill Road in Buford. With your back to the church and facing the cemetery, the family plot is a little to the left side.
I look forward to hearing from you.
May God richly bless your family,
Sandy Reid
