Does anyone have any information on John L. Jones, b. ca. 1825, SC, d. 1900, buried Salem Bapt Ch. There are 2 John L. Jones buried there. John L. Jones, Sr. is 12 years older than John L. Jones, Jr. Sr. married a Stokes. Jr. (mine), married 2 Cross sisters. I have not been able to find any records of a will or anything that will give me a clue to his siblings or parents. The only thing that may be something is a record found in Hall Co., Minutes. John L. Jones applied for letter of Administratrion on the estate of Hiram Jones late of said county........Vouchers attached to this are dated 1870.
Any help on seperating these 2 and joining my John L. Jones with his parents and siblings will be greatly appreciated.

I know this particular John L. Jones and his wife Damy (as spelled on his tombstone). His headstone bears only the name J.L. Jones, Jr.
He is my great-great grandfather. According to one of my aunts, now deceased, her grandfather's name was 'Leonard,' so I'm wondering if you might be mistaken on this middle name.
By the way, I'm descended from J.L.'s son H.N. (Hiram Nimrod) Jones, his son M.D. (Mack Duffy) Jones, and my Dad, Grover Duffie Jones. HN, MD, Grover and I are/were all ordained Baptist Ministers, so I'm also wondering if J.L. was.

Don't know about Starling or Sterling Jones, but do know that H.N. (Hiram Nimrod) Jones son of John L. Jr. moved to St. Clair Co., AL and is buried in Mt. Zion Baptist cemetery there. His son M.D. moved to AL, also, but moved back and forth several times before permanently settling in Hall Co. GA where he died in 1956. He is buried at Salem, about 50 yards toward the church from John L. Jr. & Damy's graves.
