William Buice age 66 and Mary Ann age 65 were in the 1870 Forsyth Co. census with (dau.?) Mary E. age 25. All three listed SC as birthplace.

William b. 23 Apr 1804 d. 26 Jan 1887
Mary Ann b. 22 Jan 1804 d. 12 Dec 1880

I gathered this all from the Donna Parrish home page.

I have also learned from another gentleman on the web that Mary Ann came from Spartanburg SC to Forsyth Co. by the 1840s. Can anyone add to this ? I am trying to find a possible SC link to my James Mathis from Spartanburg to
Forsyth. James was 10 years younger .... could be her brother.

Any help appreciated!! (James is wearing me out)

On the "Joe Brown" Census, which was an 1863 Militia Enrollment of the 39th Senatorial District there are transcribed Matthews - some of whom I know were Mathis.
In Dist 795 there are John 53, Reuben 26 (disbled CSA) and William 27. They were all born in Spartenburg SC. In Dist 841 there was a James 50 born South Carolina. In Dist 879, there is a H., tax collector born Spartenberg SC.(from Census Indexes of Forsyth County by Donna) and

Buried at Salem Church is James Mathis 14 Oct 1814 - 23 Feb 1879. I assume this is yours.

I have located Hiram Mathis on the Postmaster Register of Forsyth County, GA. He signed the register on 10-July 1867 assigned to District Sheltonville. There is a handwritten note about the district being re-established on 10-July 1867, I'm not sure what this is about. If you would like a copy send me a private email.

Thanks,
Jerry
