Surnames: WILLIAM, ROBERT
Am looking for information on my great grandfather and great great grandfather. My Great grandfather was Robert Hood and is buried in Forsyth County beside his first wife, Susan Garrett. His father was William Hood and is said to have come to Forsyth County from somewhere around Laurens SC. I would like to know where he is buried if possible. He had 16 children and I am sure some kin must still be in the area. All info greatly appreciated.

Would like the exchange information. I have a Hood line, but not William. Mine is Jesse Hood and have always felt they were kin some way, but have not proved it. I can give more detail on some of the children, but not much. Let me know if interested.

We have a Wm. Hood, b. 1808/1811, VA. He marr. Lucy Thomas 25 Mar. 1833, Halifax, Va. They had 2 boys, James Monroe Hood, b. 1834 and Wm. Henry Hood b. 1836. They were in 1840 census Henderson, Ky. She died and the 3 came to Pettis, Mo. Wm. then marr, Nancy Divers, a widow with 2 girls, and they had 2 boys, Frank and Silas and a girl, Elizabeth. I'm looking for the parents of Wm. Hood. Lucy's Father and siblings were b. Amelia, Va. and there were several Hood families in Amelia, Va.

All I have is Wm. Hood, b. 1809/1811, VA. I know he married Lucy Thomas 25 Mar. 1833, Halifax, Va. I know that Halifax was formed from Lunenburg, Va. and there is Wm. Hood who married Jan 1795, Lunenburg, VA. Nancy Landrum and they had a Wm.
The time and place are right. I also know Wm. and Lucy had 2 sons, James Monroe Hood, b. 1834 and Wm. Henry Hood, b. 1836. All were in the census 1840 in Henderson, KY. Guess she died and Wm and the 2 boys came to Pettis, Mo.

I do not know where William Hood is buried, but I recently found the following at the Forsyth Co., Ga. Courthouse. You may find it of interest.

Bonds and Letters 1878-1892, Forsyth Co., Ga... Page 79, dated September 25, 1879... Temp. bond for Mary Hood and James Hood as principals of the William Hood Estate and Robert Hood as securities... Page 86, dated November 20, 1879... Perm. bond for Mary Hood and James Hood as principals... Thomas H. Hunter and William T. Willis as securities.

I know that William had died by the enumeration of the 1880 Census in Forsyth Co., Ga. His family was enumerated under his widow Mary "Polly" Thompson. William's 2nd wife was Mary Thompson.

1880 Federal Census Mortality Schedule Forsyth County, GA
COUNTY FAMILY NAME AGE SEX COLOR STATUS
Forsyth 53 Hood, William 75 M W M
BIRTH1 BIRTH2 BIRTH3 PROFESSION DIED DISEASE LENGTH
SC SC SC F SEP Brain Concusion

William acquired portions of Lots 467 and 468, 2d Dist., 2d Section in Cherokee Co. ... today lot 467 and 468 of the 2nd dist and 2nd section of Cherokee Co. is located between Hopewell Rd. and Atlanta Hwy (Hwy 9) off Hamby Rd., just south of southside road... there is a private cemetery on lot 469 of Forsyth which is due east of lot 469 of Cherokee and Hamby rd runs thru both lots.

Bonds and Letters 1878-1892, Forsyth Co., Ga... Page 332 & 333.. Corban Hood and Lavinia Hood, orphans of William Hood, guardianship given to J. R. Henderson...January 5, 1885

Bonds and Letters 1878-1892, Forsyth Co., Ga... Page 343 & 343.. Emma Hood, minor and orphan of William Hood, guardianship given to James R. Henderson

I beleive that William Hood was a brother to Jesse Hood who married Mary A. Howard. I beleive that they were the sons of Robert Hood and Judith Corbin, but I have no documented proof to this relationship. I beleive that William came to Cherokee Co., Ga. and Jesse followed and settled in Forsyth Co., Ga.
