Listed on the Federal Census in 1870 on page 332B was listed a Ephriam Witzel age 45 b. NC. His wife was Mary age 23 b. SC.
Their were Modena age 10, Jno W. age 6, Wade H. age 2, and a unnamed baby age 2/365. Baby was probably Joel. Children were all born in GA. It is very probably that some of the children were with a previous wife, I just don't know.

I found Ephriam and Mary Witzel listed in 1900 in Banks Co., GA. If anyone has any more information on this family I wou.ld love to know. I do have much more information on Ephriam extended family.

Hi. I saw your post on the GAFORSYT-L mailing list. I don't know if your Ephriam Witzel and 'my' John H. Witzel are related, but maybe you know. The information I have is that John H. Witzel was born 01 Sep 1846 in Georgia. He married 16 April 1867 Nancy Harriet McClure. They are found in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 censuses in Fannin County, Georgia. John died 23 June 1904, per his tombstone. McClure is the surname I research, but I do like to know what I can about the families they married into.
