Boy did I ever hit pay dirt in my research on my Mooney line today. Just thought I would share it just in case someone else might be interested.

(1)
I just received a copy of Granny Mooney's (Lucille "Lucy" Gazaway Mooney w/o William F. "Bill" Mooney) Death Certificate and on it, it has her birth date as unknown, place of birth - Forsyth County, Georgia and her age as 115. Her death date as December 2, 1956 and her burial was done by Little-Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia on December 4, 1956. For her parents info it is also listed as unknown and she is the widow of William Mooney. The info was provided to the funeral home by her son Ed.

Heritage of Dawson County, Georgia
Submitted by: Minnie Mooney

I was born February 23, 1923 to Wylie and
Maggie Bronson Goss. My daddy named me
Minnie after my mama and Avalene for an old
girlfriend, so he called me his "special girl". I was
one of 13 children and now I am the only living
one.
On April 23, 1943 Ed Mooney and I married.
We had eight children, all still living: Katherine
(now Tate) lives in Forsyth County, 5 children;
Ruby Dean (Martin), Forsyth County, 2 children;
Wilma, Dawson County, 4 children; Thelma, Mon-
roe, GA, 1 child; Roger, Forsyth County, 2 chil-
dren; Margie (Green), Forsyth County, 2 children;
Dorothy (Reed), 5 children, Martha (Dove), 2 chil-
dren. We have 23 grandchildren and 16 great-
grandchildren.
Ed worked in road construction in Forsyth
County. I worked some in restaurants and nurs-
ing homes. We farmed to raise our own food and
our money crop was raising broilers and keep-
ing laying hens. We had to gather the eggs by
hand, as well as doing all of the feeding and water-
ing. We even had to clean out the houses with a
shovel. It's a lot easier to raise chickens these
days with all the automation.
We moved to Dawson County in December
1982 because we found a house and some land
we really liked. But we had always lived just barely
across the line in Forsyth. There's not much dif-
ference.
Since we now live just across the county line
the other way, we still go back to church in Forsyth Countynty to Concord Baptist Church.

NOTE: Miinie has since passed away, she died:
February 19, 1999 and is buried at Sawnee View
