I am looking for an Isaac Richard James who volunteered in the Battle of Vicksburg and died ? Not sure even if he is buried in Vicksburg. Would greatly appreciate it if someone could do a look up for me. BD 12/24/1797. Thank You!

Greetings Karen,

I was struck by the same name and locality of my ancestor. Perhaps we have the link to help[ each other out.

My ancestor is Isaac Richard (Dick) James.
He married Lucinda Elizabeth Adams 12 Dec 1850 in Elbert Co, GA.

I have extensive geneology on Lucinda but almost nothing on Isaac.

Lucinda (Lucy) Elizabeth Adams
born 31 July 1831 in Elbert Co, GA
died 24 Jan 1900 in Newton Co, MS

from this union were born two sons:
William Issac James, b. 9 Mar 1854 in GA
Ausbon Augustus (Bud) James, B. 24 Nov 1861

both sons are burried in Newton, MS.

Hope this helps you or me,

Maj. Dennis C. Ewert, USAF Ret.

Hi Dennis,
Happy late Thanksgiving, and also on a new road to relatives. The Lucy Emily Adams that I have listed is the daughter of William Adams and Sarah Head Adams and was born 7/1/1831. She married an Issac Richard James 12/12/1850 who was born 2/22/1830. There is a little difference but awfully close. This Issac Richard James enlisted in the battle of Vicksburg and I am trying to find out where he was buried and Lucy later married a Mr. Hoye. I have a connection to that side in Philadelphia, MS. I live in VA. What do you think?
Karen
