Here in NC, they started keeping birth records about 1910-1911. However, we have what is called 'Delayed Birth' records. When social security began in the 30's, you had to have a birth certificate, so they made them using insurance policies, the Family Bible, and other records as proof of birth. Some of these people were born in the 1880's and 1890's, etc. That has helped a lot to research in NC.
I am related to the Corn and Elrod families of Fannin Co. Georgia. My grandma Corn married a Justice.
