Any info on the ANGLIN line (John William Jr., Sr. Stephen G, John) would be appreciated. Sarah E. LANE connects to Joseph LANE b. 1786 in VA died 10/19/1864 Early County. Looking for further info on this line, as well as his wife Sarah "Sallie" RICE b 1791 NC died 1872 Early County.

Eliza A WINDSOR born 1825 married Mar 26 1846 William Peddy in Early Co GA. daughter Mary Jane Peddy born 1846-47. Mary Jane Peddy married William Ford April 9 1870 Early Co GA. (in 1880 Early Co GA census page 216A Mary Jane Peddy is Mary Jane Ford) Mary Jane Ford married Aug 14 1884 Early Co GA E W Winsor.
Eliza A Winsor Peddy, 1825 married 2nd John W Anglin.
Parents of Eliza A Winsor Peddy Anglin is not known to me. Check early court records for Winsor. Let me know if you find the parent.

There is a understandable mixup in the previous message which stated: "Sarah E. LANE connects to Joseph LANE b. 1786 in VA died 10/19/1864 Early County."

Sarah E. LANE was the daughter of Joseph William LANE (b. Sept 4, 1816 in Caswell Co.,NC and d. Oct 19, 1864 in Early Co.,GA) and Cloe Elizabeth (Sheffield) LANE (b. March 24, 1825 in Early Co.,GA and d. April 21, 1892 in Early Co.,GA).

Sarah E. LANE was the granddaughter of Joseph William LANE (b.1788 in RockbridgeCo.,VA and d. 1864 in Early Co.,GA) and Sarah (Sallie) (Rice) LANE (b. 1791 in Caswell Co.,NC and d.1872 in Early Co.,GA).

It was Sarah E. LANE's father who died on Oct 19, 1864, not her grandfather. It was her grandfather that was married to Sarah (Rice) LANE.

I have been to Early Co.,GA and visited the cemetery where many of the LANEs are buried, including Sarah E's father and grandfather. The above dates were taken from the old tombstone in the Blakely cemetery.

Also, you may be interested in the following note that I received in Aug 1999 from Joan Herndon who lives in Early County and is involved in its early history:

"A Memorial was erected in the Cedar Springs Cemetery....I believe Mattie Crawford LANE erected this marble wall of names and she is deceased....In her later life she married Mr. Lawrence LANE and I have met him in his lifetime......He was old when he married Mattie.......

Listed on the marble---Sarah Rice LANE born in N.C. in 1791--died 1872--Her husband was Joseph LANE born 1788 in Va. and died 1864.

Their children are listed on this marker as:

1. James Madison Lane-born 01/26/1812--died 02/22/1881 and he married Elizabeth Roberts born 1819 and died 10/23/1903.

2. Martha R. Lane born 02/22/1819 and died 03/04/1901--She married Isham K. Sheffield.

3. Mary D. Lane born 07/17/1824--died 03/31/1895 and she married Jacob Wiley.

4. Joseph W. Lane born 09/04/1816 and died 10/19/1864 and he married Chloe Sheffield, dau of Isham and Eliz. Sheffield.

5. Elizabeth LANE born 1822 and married Kilby Spence.

6. Thomas LANE born 04/24/1814 and died 1864 CSA-He married Rachel Roberts."
