I'm looking for information on a John Godfrey b. abt 1827 in South Carolina. In the 1860 census he is living in the house with his father and mother. His father was James S.and mother Elizabeth. There is also a sister Elizabeth age 20. He is age 34 and his son Richard is age 8 and his wife maiden Ann has left. Richard later moved to Menard Co. TX. I have not found anything more on John. He was in the Civil war entering in Sept. 1861. He may have been killed during the war. Is there information at the library of those who died during the Civil War from that County? If someone can help me I would appreciate it.
