Thank you very much. That does help. I have noticed that many of the Summer family moved out of South Carolina sometime around 1840/1850. I wish I knew why. I also see that some changed their religion from Lutheran to Baptist. In South Carolina they were Lutheran. Our immigrant ancestor, Johann Adam Summer, donated land for a Lutheran church near Pomaria in Newberry County, South Carolina. They left Germany because they were being persecuted for their religion in the middle 1700's. The Catholic Germans wanted those Lutherans out and the English King wanted settlers in America.

One thing that interests me besides researching family history is trying to understand how and why they moved across the country as they did.
