Classification: Query
Surnames: Hensley, Pruitt, AWTREY, AUTRY
Do others have a "lost" Cherokee County family in 1870 census?
Perhaps they went to Kansas with mine!

It appears that my Francis Marion Hensley and his first wife (Nancy Pruitt) and their two children are in the 1870 Lincoln County, Kansas census.
M593, Roll 438, p. 1
32/32
Hensley, Mxxxx (can't read) 26, $800, born GA
Hensley, N. C., 26, born GA
Hensley, R. Lee, 2, born GA
Hensley, William 11/12, born GA

They are next to (her purported father):
Sam Pruett, 43, $800, born GA
Elizabeth Pruett, 38, born GA
W. J. Pruett, 13, born GA
V. Pruett, 13, born GA
A. Pruett, 9, born GA
L. Pruett, 6/12, born GA

Nancy Pruitt/Pruett married Francis MARION (he went by his middle name) Hensley 4/9 September 1866 in Cherokee County, Georgia. Evidently she died between 1870 and 1872 for he married secondly Araminta R. E. AWTREY 31 March 1872 in St. Clair County, Alabama and their family, with his son, listed as Lee R., appear in the Etowah County, Alabama, 1880 census.

Am curious as to why they went to Kansas?
