Thanks for the additional information. My ancestor, Francis Marion HENSLEY, served in the CSA in Phllip's Legion during the Civil War, but I don't know about his first wife's family (PRUITT). He served about 3 years and was a POW in Maryland for a time.

I have wondered if the lure of Homestead land (which actually was for Union veterans, but ... ) might have been a reason to have gone to Kansas. At any rate my ancestor did stay long in Kansas.
